If you didn't see my other two threads, I cooked filet mignons for dinner at work and kale & filet nachos.

I got the steaks from LeBlanc's Fres Marche. When I got to the butcher shop, the only filets in the display were tiny 2-4oz each. I did buy four of the 2oz filets to make the nachos, but asked him to cut me five 10oz filets. He said no problem and went to the back to cut. I went and finished shopping while he cut them.
When they have filets on display, they are the normal 2" thick filets, kind of like in a ball, and that's what I was expecting.
I get back to the counter just as he was coming from the back. He cut me five steaks, but the were maybe 1" thick.
I didn't want to say anything because he went out of his way to do it for me, but I was a little mad at the quality of the cuts.
They cooked just fine and were good but because of their thicknesses, I couldn't get the char I wanted on the outside without over cooking them.

Would you say something to the management?

2oz filets

Wtf

Eta I wouldn't even call it a filet at that point. Maybe a medallion or some something cute like that. Also you should have told the butcher how thick you wanted the filets cut.

Why didn't you tell him to cut more steaks?

if im asking a butcher to cut me a steak, im specifically asking for a certain thickness.

they should ask you that imo.

I would. I would call management and tell them I was a dumbass for not telling the butcher how thick I wanted my 10 ounce steaks cut. Then give the butcher a compliment for cutting 10 ounce steaks like you asked.

I've never ordered steaks by the oz. I always ask them to be cut by thickness. Were they 10 oz each?

its your fault that you walked off. A good butcher will cut them(or the 1st one, in this case) then show them to you to make sure that is what you want.

I would complain about paying $25/lb for beef tenderloin.

so you come here and name names to complain to ask us whether you should complain to the manager for steaks you clearly saw before buying? did I get this right?

Plus this is a spinoff thread? go away.

You problem.
