So trying to make a long story short, my dad built an addition to his house and installed 4 remote controlled harbor breeze fans in close proximity to one another. The fans do not have pull strings of any kind so the only way to turn the fan/light on is to use the switch on the wall or the remote control

Now I have 2 problems
The first and main problem is on two of the fans suddenly the light will not come on, whether by switch or by remote (I'm unaware if the remote has ever turned on the light). I've changed the bulbs in one of the fans just to be sure that wasn't the problem. The fans have been installed for 6-8 months and the lights has always worked from each switch until now, figured it might be a remote problem so started messing with it and no response BUT the remote will work to turn the fans on which led to problem number 2

Problem number 2 is bc of the proximity of the 4 fans to each other the remotes are working several fans at once

I'll worry about the second problem later unless someone knows a quick fix for it, right now I just want my lights to work

Just to be clear the wall switches still seem to be functioning bc I can turn them on and the fan will come on

Other 2 fans are working perfectly with switch and remote except for the single remote operating multiple fans issue

P.S. I DO NOT recommend anyone to buy any of these harbor breeze fans, especially if they are going to be in close proximity to each other. I have googled some already and seems people have a lot of problems with them

Each fan should have a code you match with remotes

Read the instructions

You need to open the remotes and program each individually, however that is done. That may very well solve the light problem as well. Your lesson, as always, is that when you go wireless, you have no backup when the shite hits the fan.

interesting...same shite happened to mine a year or so ago...fan works fine, but the remote will no longer work the light.

I never thought about reprogramming, though....

ETA...very sorry to hear about your dad...I've been there and it sucks.

I had the hunter control and it was horrible as it needs to be reprogrammed if the power goes out.

I switched it out for the Hampton bay/harbor breeze which I like a lot better

Edit- I have hunter fans but prefer the harbor breeze/Hampton bay wireless remote

I avoid the remote control fans. They suck. You can bypass the remote if you reroute the wires.

fault of the installer, each remote and controll unit has four switches that give you many combinations of signals.

simple fix

Only way to know for sure on problem one is to apply 120v to black wire from fan (after remote) to see if it's not a problem with the remote or the controller. If the light works with the controller bypassed then you know it's a bad controller and or remote.

To test the controllers you need to be able to test continuity. You should be able to switch on and off continuity between the black and black wires and the black and blue on the controller by hitting the fan or light buttons. The white wire should always have continuity.

The second problem is a simple fix, the first problem will take a decent understanding of electronics to figure out.

Behind the batteries there should be a few buttons like 4. You should switch be able to move them up or down. So for fan 1 punch the first button down. For fan 2 push the second button down and so forth. That way each fan is on a separate frequency.
