Bed Slats leg supports: What are cheap alternatives

If anyone has put a bed together before with headboard/footboard/rails, you know there are wooden slats that support the mattress. I have several slats that are missing the wooden leg in the middle of them.
I went on Amazon and found these, but they are freaking $20 each. With a questionable design in my opinion. What other options do I have that are easy? I guess I could try and measure out some new wooden legs that attach them, but they would have to be pretty sturdy and not mess up the wooden floors. Any suggestions?

So I've tried books in the past, but they slide around you have to go in and adjust them. It's also very janky looking

Just do what i did, measure out how long the mattress boards are and add about five of them. Then you wont need those little peg supports and you can fit extra stuff under your bed.

Cut a piece of 2x4 to the height and screw it to the cross brace. Cheapest and easiest.

So I did that but I must have bought the wrong wood. I used pine and they are sagging. What kind did you use?

Basically like the picture below. Use no slip stickers on the bottom of the 2x4 for added stability

Holy crap. You use 2x4's for the cross braces as well? Doesn't your box spring and mattress sit pretty high with that?

For a short post, the type of wood won't matter
My bed has some little 2x2 wood posts on the slats in the center (king)

Measure the width of the bed, go to Lowes, buy 2x4's, cut to length. Get enough to put the 2x4's every 8-10 inches.

It's only an inch higher than what you used.

The lady can barely get in the bed as it is. An inch makes a difference

I used a piece of 4x4 under the supports. 4x4 may be a little much for some but I'm fat and when I frick the bed takes some abuse.

That's what I did as well. Cost about $12 and I got about 5 of them.

No, that's a random Google image to give you an idea. The slats are the normal 1x4s

I built a 2x4 frame with 1/2 inch plywood on the top and bottom. (Basically a plywood rectangle without the sides.)
Made it the length of the matress, about 18 inches wide and placed it under the wood slats down the middle of the bed.
Just used scrap wood so no cost to me. Much sturdier than individual legs as well.
