A complaint that a man was watching children through binoculars while fondling himself on Tuesday led to the arrest of a Pineville sex offender, according to police. The Pineville Police Department received the complaint at 1:30 p.m. from the newly opened Kees Park splash pad in the 2400 block of La. Highway 28 East.

The complainant stated that the man was watching children from the other side of the property, reads the department's release.

Not saying you draw down on the guy. I believe in this situation calling the cops was exactly what should have been done. There was not threat of immediate bodily harm at that point. However, THIS should show everyone what kind of area we are talking about. Also, read the article, why is this guy still out? Now imagine if this guy wasn't a sex offender, but a released parolee with a violent past. Would the Pineville PD be there in time to stop a violent action? No.

My point is, criminals, such as this guy, DO NOT FOLLOW LAWS, or signs, or a code of common human decency. Therefore I carry, not just for my protection, but for yours.

Had this man opened fire, the lady in the OP would have been happy to have the open carrier there to protect her and her family.

Let's set some things straight to the those who believe I'm a paranoid nutjob. I am not paranoid, I have simply been trained to function at this level as a means to protect myself and my brothers. I've been a light infantryman in the United States Army for 6 years. I've been contracted to provide armed security at a federal level. As a matter of opsec that's all that I will say
I am awaiting my CC as I've taken the class and applied but state takes forever. Before this it seemed open carry was not a problem, and didn't attract nearly the attention it does at present. While open carrying I've always used knowledge of law and common sense not to carry into a prohibited area...
On the day in question, I had no intention of going to the park but went at the request of my family.
I was illegally detained but complied as I knew the woman the OP mentioned had most likely exaggerated when making her 911 call. Also as I had complied and removed my offensive weapon I was shocked when my wife had left with our niece to the bathroom leaving me with my son as we were about to depart anyway... When I was approached by officers one with an M4 at the low ready the other hand on sidearm. I'm unarmed, hoping I don't catch a bullet with my son an arm's length away from me or worse he become collateral damage due to those uninformed employees who bullied that situation from the start. I stated loud and clear that I had stowed my weapon I am unarmed and this is my son. I've broken no laws and complied with park personnel...
Another poster mentioned 90% sure there is a sign. My wife thought so too so I'd originally entered unarmed. After checking all entrances and signs to both park and splash pad. I'd decided to retrieve my weapon in the unlikely event of theft... Again no signs to advise it was a gun free zone as they had said- later denied by dispatch it was while I listened...
I was cuffed, my son picked up by the same officer with the M4, how is this safer for the park or my son I ask you classless bunch who wondered "why, oh why carry a gun?! And at the park?!...
BECAUSE I HAVE TAKEN FIRE HERE AT HOME is my response to you...Not because I'm some attention whore, saying frick you I do what I want.considering response time I dont trust PPD is going to respond to that "Airplane falling from the sky, so do I need to pack a parachute?" Chance of a active shooter at the park before the damage is done...You can only imagine how many units jumped on this call... Where's the justice? Because I offended someone's delicate sensibilities while exercising my right to carry and protect mine and yours should something occur.
What do I tell my son when these donkeys win and I can no longer carry anywhere? I found this out of happenstance, looking up the story of a pervert arrested DAYS after. The officers on site assured me at the time I was talking to them "they got the park, there's no need for you to carry here"... Leaving a unit behind that day but not on the following...
It's all very disgusting, humiliating, and generally... F%$ked up people... Sue?
No those same officers served with my wife and they apologized after the fact. Sadly and embarrassingly for the department in a call hours later asking what kind of weapon I was carrying... Seriously?
Sue the city!
No, I will not punish the city for the actions of TWO jackaloons. While my attention was on my family, out of habit I scanned that area and the people around me for threats to include you sir. I see my intuition was correct for I perceived you not as a threat for sitting next to me but simply a fellow citizen, patriot, and decent human being. I was correct as you posted the wrongful actions of those that day here.
I settled for reprimand, and removal of those employee's and a thorough apology to my son and the rest of my family for what happened that day.
Such treatment I thought impossible by my community and fellow countrymen. It's a shame that my trust and faith in the city, the department and the people of Pineville has been forever tarnished...
When that CC comes in, concealed always. Not because I care it offends anyone. Just tired of the bs stigma put on it now that leads to this ridiculousness.
I will never surrender my rights, I will continue to protect yours. Read the creed of my kind and ask yourself in that hour of need when the wolf comes knocking at your door do you want us the sheepdogs of this world standing between you and him in your house of straw with a brick in hand. Telling you to run cause we will not... Because we can not... Think I'm crazy, fine. I offend you, fine. I assure you I can live with that...
Thank you sir for your post and allowing me a forum in which to vent about this ridiculous event... Now sleep. So I may lace my boots, strap my vest, carry that weapon... And protect those who appreciate what I am and what I do. God bless you all, no matter your opinions

I am the opposite and give them the benefit of the doubt, but I live in Pineville and the PPD are a joke. It's a running joke when you see 5 or 6 cars with lights flashing that someone must of had a fender bender. Many are the ego maniacs that the public has come to hate.

While I wouldnt choose to do it, I don't get everyone saying this person is a pussy for carrying at a splash pad.
Like this type of place would be totally off limits for a whacko. I bet that is the same thing people who worked in an elementary school thought or those gathered for prayer in a church?

Like I said, while the risk may have been small it would be stolen from our vehicle. Not a chance I wanted to take, and I had broken no laws. I was there for almost 2 hours before this occurred without incident. I was only really visible while giving my wife a break and chasing after my boy, watching my niece. I tried, not to hide, but rather not throw it in everyone's face by sitting in the shade with the diaper bag, and for a time visiting with friends who had shown up to see the kids. Still this happened. Again I didn't plan on going, nor really wanted to be there. But I also didn't want to miss time with my family. If this had been our 1 and only destination I Would've left that weapon. And instead brought the pistol I bought for CC that is insured against theft from my vehicle...
