I figured it a little odd that they would be dropping people off so late on a Sunday.

I've seen them tubing when the river was up 3' and rising during a terrible thunderstorm. Signing that waiver and handing over the cash gets you on the river, damn near regardless of the conditions.

That waste of a place needs to be shut down asap. Not that I don't think the stupidity of people is the cause of death, but the owners are directly related to many deaths by giving them a tube.

Yup. Right next to the $100k or so worth of foundation he abandoned. I'll admit I'm jealous of the man living on the river like that, but I don't see how that place is going to stand 20 yrs of the river going up and down.

he drove pilings and the bank is held together by used tires and mesh netting. Pretty interesting place he's got going on there

I'm surprised this place hasn't been shut down yet. I'd like to hear MJ2's thoughts

How is it Tiki tubing's problem? Unless people are given faulty inter tubes I don't see how they have any responsibilty

i am on the side of they share responsibility since they don't have anyone on the river to help out people in need.

Imagine if waterparks and pools just stopped staffing lifeguards.

Tiki is still transporting the tubers and their alcohol and drugs up the river to the drop off point.

do places that rent out canoes provide people on the side of the river to assist canoers in trouble?

completely different. These activities are on private or city property.

I dont think they should be responsible for safety on a public waterway.

But they should have to pay to have some law enforcement stationed along the river

As well as clean up their mess. I'm really surprised LPSO doesn't hang out on 1019 every weekend writing DUI's. Either way the guy who owns the operation is a scum bag and deserves to get smashed in the mouth

he's part of Old LP money. He's untouchable. Why do you think LP doesn't patrol 1019 south on summer weekends?

If you float bogue chitto in MS you would see how it should be handled.

Bogue Chitto had much more police presence.

My favorite tubing is still the Guadeloupe in the San Antonio area.
