Man it's crazy how weak that midfield is and really just the overall lack of star power in England right now.

That is not a weak midfield man. A midfield of Alli, Delph, Dier, Sterling, Wilshere (maybe) and Rooney (assuming he won't play up top) looks pretty good to me. Drinkwater and Lallana are good players too. There's only a handful of teams that will be at the Euros with that kind of talent in its midfield. Very good group of strikers too.

Really thought Defoe was going to get on for his form and leadership.

It's a very lack luster midfield with no real international experience you need to lead a midfield other than Rooney.

If England make it to the knockout rounds their midfield will get ran over.

Was there ever any doubt. Roy plays favorites big time. On form and coming off injury neither should be picked. And if Delph makes it to France holeeee shite

Jack was far and away their best player throughout qualification. He was always going to be picked if he was fit.

Delph?! Is this a joke lol
Mark Noble from West Ham still not getting a cap is sad.
I am a ManU fan and he ran circles around our entire midfield.

What? Dier and Alli have no international experience, Delph is an average player, Sterling is a wide player, and Wilshere was the most consistent performer during qualifiction but is coming off a nine-month injury.

Belgium, Italy, France, Spain, Germany, and Croatia have better midfields, and deeper as well. I've named six teams, which isn't counting teams like Wales who have midfielders actually getting game time at their clubs (unlike Delph and Wilshere).

All in all, this is a very average/poor England team when combined with the regressive tactics Roy is no doubt going to employ.

Only thing England have going for themselves this tournament is their is almost no expectations.

Everyone here knows they suck.

They could legit have a top ten team if they had a manager with vision and chose based on form rather than popularity. I'm happy that Wilshere made it but he doesn't deserve it. It might be a reward for performing so well during the qualification (six MOTM out of seven). He's the best player in the midfield in terms of technique and vision, and for that reason I think Roy will build that midfield around with, with maybe Dier or Henderson as a partner and Alli in front. I think Dier and Wilshere might be a good partnership actually, as it would allow Wilshere to drive forward with the ball as well as ping passes all over the field.

If jack is fit he should start ahead of Hendo

Hendo is way to careless with the ball if he's not making 3-5 yard square pass. Any decent midfield at this level will eat that alive. England's cake walk qualifying group did them no favors.

Hendo is great at running around and occasionally delivering a nice looking final ball. If Wilshere is supposed to be the base of the midfield trio, he needs someone to run around for him and protect him. Hendo is superb at running.

I just don't know what shape Hodgson is going to employ. Assuredly it will be regressive and idiotic and England will be caught out. I really despise Hodgson.

wasn't too log ago, that you could say the same about Englands forwards and Goalkeepers.

they have greatly improved in both positions.

Which should get you no where starting for England. But the lack of midfield talent is bad.

Roy is stuck in the Stone Age. He tries to look modern by going 4-3-3. He keeps staring Sterling which is mind blowing. Living off the one moment when he hit the side netting in the World Cup

Goalkeepers yes

Forwards and strikers nope. This side doesn't have one proven international player up top if Wazza plays in the midfield.
