Dempsey getting impatient and dropping back to midfield to get the ball. That turns into a 4-1-4-1 pretty early in the match.

You mean besides Altidore being on the bench?

Would Altidore be the better pairing?

He's our best forward, but I wouldn't put him and Dempsey up top together.

I think he's better suited as a lone striker, which is what would end up happening with Dempsey up there too. Clint just doesn't stay forward

I also would prefer an extra player in the midfield if we are playing a good team.

Altidore alone up top

Pair Jones and Bradley at CDM?

It would honestly depend on the opponent. Not a lot of cover on defense.

Is Bradley a CDM though? I don't like how Jurgen views him as a 10, but I've always liked him as a box to box guy with dedicated CDM covering for him.

I can't stress enough how valuable Beckerman's play was for us in Brazil, we need to find a replacement for him.

I've always viewed Bradley as a pivot central midfielder. Pair him next to a defensive minded guy and go to work. Our CDM pool is aging though. Wish Danny Williams could see more time on the pitch

I'm willing to give Kitchen a shot.

If we hit on one of our promising CB prospects (Miazga, CCV, EPB) to pair alongside Brooks, then I think Cameron could be our new CDM.

They would have to hit on quickly. Cameron turns 31 in July.

Yep... That's the issue.

If we transition Cam to CDM, maybe Birnbaum is the best option on the right side since he is a little more seasoned than the others. Omar, too.

Acosta, Williams, Trapp, Cameron, Kitchen can all play CDM
