I understand some think..even Cowherd on ESPN- that the Miles to Michigan train isn't completely derailed. I know we have a coaching change board but I just want to explain this....
This is a very crazy situation and it needs to be addressed. When Miles had his press conference in Atlanta before the game, he had NO idea nor in his WILDEST DREAMS did he think LSU would be in the title game..in fact-I still can't take it in. I though OK could beat Missouri but I never thought PITT would beat WV. I truly believe the Miles staying concept is true but until the contract is signed....I won't truly rest. There are 2 things we need to be looking out for however...

1) Carr is going to coach Michigan in their bowl game against Florida. If Michigan drags their feet and don't have a coach named by then....remember Alabama, they dragged their feet for a while and when the NFL season was over...boom!!! If Michigan makes a statement to the effect that they will name a coach after their bowl game to not have distractions.....it will start smelling fishy!!!!

2) If a new defensive coordinator isn't chosen before the NC game.....Miles would not want to hire a DC if he knows he will bolt to Michigan...being able to keep Bo even as a lame duck is perfect for him. He could hire a new DC now and bring him on to help with recruiting and game planning. Now is the time to get them because coaches are scrambling for jobs and the longer one waits.....If he hires a new DC soon, then its less likely he is planning a move.

I don't think there is a plot going on-I think Miles is sincere in his decision. However, if these 2 things start to drag on......we need to start wondering!!!

They say they want his deal done by Thursday....lets see!!!

I don't think #2 means anything.

Contracts mean NOTHING. Miles has a contract now with a buyout for Michigan. Signing a new contract may change the terms, but if someone comes along with enough $$$, it won't matter.

I'm the same way. I think it is 95% probability that Miles stays, but until another coach is introduced at Michigan, it ain't over.

Remember, Saban said unequivocally last year he would not be the coach at Alabama. Les hasn't even said that. He's said he wants to stay (I wanted to stay in college at LSU but realized I had to move on and graduate), is the coach at LSU (sure, that is a fact, it means nothing), will be the coach at LSU (until when? next year? next week? until after the NC game?), etc.

I want to believe this is over, but part of me says it ain't over till its over. Does anyone really think it is out of the question that all this would stay mum until after he coaches the NC game then announces he's had a change of heart and wants to go to MI after all.

He did say in his press conference that he was "saddened" he could not go and be in two places at once. He obviously wants to go but there is an obstacle. It is probably not money but something more basic like having Lloyd Carr involved in the AD for the coming years. If the obstacle (whatever it is) is removed, Les may become less saddened.

When Les Miles and the family start decorating their Christmas tree and Les pulls out the ole Michigan ornament he will start to have second thoughts and he will call Michigan AD Martin on Christmas Eve and the Michigan plane will be spotted at Metro Airport and Les will announce Christmas night he is headed to Ann Arbor.

The BCS will reconvene and will give permission to LSU to hire Stoops, Richt or Carrol or anyone else who thought they were snubbed to allow those coaches to participate in the BCS National Title Game.

That's how it will go down!

You guys are right, but Miles ain't no Saban and he said he'll be our coach next year. I'm willing to give this man the benefit of the doubt. Nothing in life is certain, but I'm feeling pretty damned spectacular about everything right now.

this isn't the dolphins, nick saban didn't want to be coaching the dolphins and when he said most of that stuff he had not even been contacted by Alabama yet. Our coach told everyone he is staying, people are still trying to say stuff because they want a story and they don't have one. miles said let it rest. then before the sec championship game he said talk to me after the game, and then he told the woman from cbs before the game that he was staying and then he said after the game that he was staying, even after the game was over. and bertman said on the news that he knew miles was staying over a month ago because he told him he was. and the last thing is how can you take a job that you have not been offered? well you can't and michigan hasn't even talked to miles so why would they offer

What is dragging on? They're getting everything approved on Thursday and should be signed shortly there after.

It's done, let it rest.

if we want miles to stay our coach which i for one do, then we should be able to take him at his word. let's call him a liar when it is proven he lied. miles has been an honest man in all his dealings at LSU as far as we know. there is no reason to believe otherwise. our coach asked us to drop it. let's drop it. i'm wondering if these people that post this stuff really want to keep miles or if they were getting too excited about the prospect of a new coach. he is our coach. he will be our coach. drop it.

Why won't Miles come out and say I will be the coach of LSU for the next five years. As I said before if I handled my business this way I would lose a lot of clients. Only in college football can people get away with ambiguous, elusive statements regarding there intentions. Ridiculous and something needs to be done, like uh hire a decent lawyer to represent LSU and draw up a contract that is binding.

what does five years have to do with anything. he said he loves it here and he will be our coach. do you really need the number of years he will be here? please used common sense. i don't mean to attack you but it's not miles that something needs to be done about, it's all these ridiculous posts

so you tell your clients you will represent them for five years? i bet you just make it clear to them that you will represent them, just as miles has done

probably because it's not a 5 year deal but i'm sure he will call you and tell you how many years are on his contract and how much money and bonuses he will be getting as soon as it's finalized. man i don't know why he just doesn't come out and say what his contract is when it's not finalized, that makes no sense

I would hate for a good program to lose two coaches in a matter of years, when they exit in such a classless way.

I think that Miles has a chance of coming to Michigan. But I hope for you sake it doesn't happen.

Times Picayune article today said Miles new deal is going to be put off until after the title game becuase LSU wins he will get a better deal. Bertman said this is just becuase they got in the title game and Miles has told him he is going to stay the LSU coach.

he made it clear to everyone. people just remember what happened to other people and they are saying stuff based off what totally different people said. he's made it clear and there is no chance of him going to michigan so do like he said and let it rest. just go look at the pictures of the team and the coaches and coaches families after the announcement was made that they would be in the NC. look how happy they were and look what color his children's clothes were. he said they're happy there, he said he's staying, and he said let it rest. quit trying to make a story where there isn't one. the only story is that a coach is getting a new contract. it happens all the time get over it
