Duncan is still effective on the defensive end. That is true of Ginoboli though feels like every year though he puts together a few good playoff games even though he's looked slow for awhile now.

If I was a betting man I am putting money on Duncan retiring this offseason and y'all signing Pau

Duncan REALLY slowed down this season.
Yup. I'm thinking he bows out gracefully after this season. Trying not to think about it. Because I'll probably cry when it happens

Manu missed like a month of the season
Thanks, Pels

Idk if I want Pau. But I wouldn't reject it out of hand, either.
Probably a more realistic scenario than the KD rumors floating around, though

Why isn't Marc recruiting pau to MEM? End his career playing w his lil bro.
Posted on 4/30/16 at 12:51 am to TbirdSpur2010
Tell him to sign with Portland
He's #1 on my semi realistic wish list.
Other than last season, SA usually doesn't get high end FAs. Who do y'all want?

D12 to SA!!!
Okay I'll stop. I had to since boom is alive and well.
Pau could fit in almost anywhere tbh. Going back to Memhpis with his brother on a cheap deal doesn't sound out of this world to me.
Cheap being around 10M

Yeah, that's why I didn't even allow myself to get excited about the LMA thing last year until it was a done deal

It's been pretty quiet on that front from the FO from what I can glean. I'm assuming they just have contingency plans for if Tim/Manu call it quits or not. Assuming they don't know already.
Pau seems like the most realistic target. KD wouldn't be a good fit, I don't think, as he'd have to share limited touches with Kawhi/LMA, not to mention we'd probably lose Green.
But, hell, RC Buford probably already has someone he's targeting.

That'd be a cool storyline, too

To bad Marc told him to go to SA in front of the media like last week
Marc's got his other brother, Mike Conley, to deal with this offseason.

I'd like to see Batum play SG in SA but that's just me being a 2K GM Even though Portland plays in the same conference as y'all I like to see SA do well. Batum is a favorite of mine and if he wins one in SA I could celebrate.
Idk many vets off the top of my head in this year's class. The FO here has been silent too. I think Olshey makes a play for someone. Not a huge name but a name, Whether it's good or bad. I really want Pau though. If we were eliminated by the Clippers rather easily I could see CJ being shopped around (Cousins?) but now that we're where we are, I don't see it. There were rumors at the deadline of CJ being shopped, just local writers looking for clicks More than likely.

Yeah it gave PtR/SpursTalk something else to buzz about
As for Conley, you think y'all keep him?

Well, the POR to SA pipeline has been rather....fruitful for us down here Between The Baker's Man and LaSharkus.
But Batum? Stop it, man, I can only get so moist. Adding another Frenchie to the team would be the tits

I sort of doubt Marc wouldn't love to play with his brother, but the guy plays the same position as ZBo who he is also super close to.

No way y'all let go of CJ. No way in hell.
Pau could be a coup for y'all, though.

It could work if Pau were willing to take a reserve role. Doubt MEM would even ask him to do that, though. He's got a couple more years of starter-quality play in him, IMO.
Posted on 4/30/16 at 1:18 am to TbirdSpur2010
He'd basically just be a luxury. Jaymychal Green is already pretty damn serviceable as a backup and Jarrell Martin looks promising. Team's got bigger holes that need to be addressed.

Is ZBO still starter quality though?

He dropped a triple double like a month ago.

The clippers are basically the spurs pre Duncan... First round playoff purgatory
Here is the problem.. They have stats guys and not a good team. Their center is the worst ft shooter in the NBA. You can get away with that if your shaq. Not if your deandre Jordan.
Your star player peeked 3 years ago . A power forwardt whose best asset is his athletic ability yet shoots 45% of his shots beyond 16ft were he's a 33% shooter.
Chris Paul is the best most complete point guard in the NBA and it's not close. 45/40/90 guy offensively, 4 to 1 assist to turnover ratio and is an all defense level defender.. Can pretty much shut down any point guard not named curry when he puts his mind to it.
Reddick is this generation's hornacek
The Team is built around Griffin And it should be built around Paul. The power forward should be a classic stretch Four with excellent three point shooting ability and the center should excel in pick and pop situations. They need a 3-d guy at SF and a bench with more than the coaches son and a 55 year old over drubbling pg.
I don't see this team going any further then they are
1. Get Chris bosh. I don't care how. Two players have never been talior made for each other like Chris and Chris. Chris Paul would have 15 dimes a game kicking it out to bosh for the three. Miami is going to max whiteside and will not be paying max to two centers.
Griffin for bosh works straight up financially
https://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/6684817
Though I'd make the heat throw in next year's first (deep draft) and I would love to get Gerald green somehow for the bench but he's a free agent.
Bosh is 32 and has blood clot issues but Griffin himself is not a picture of health and bosh game is like dirk he will be a high level player well into his late 30s he's not a banger.
The heat will do this cause Wade is old as hell and Griffin can play along whiteside who is a better version of Jordan
2.trade Jordan for a pick and pop guy. Kanter would be perfect but won't happen. Cousins would work but the clips don't have what the Kings want in return.
The best I could come up with that makes sense logically and works financially is Jordan and Pierce (under contract for next year) to the sun's for Chandler, bledsoe, Goodwin and this year's first. That first is the equivalent of the screetch music stopping but Chandler is in his 30s and without it this trade makes no sense. I think they could swing if with a 2016- top 5 2017 - top 10 2018- top 3 2019 unprotected draft pick.
Sun's will happily send bledsoe packing bledsoe and Knight are Interchangeable financially and both are point guards bledsoe is better but never healthy. Sun's have to decide which they want as their starter next to Booker. Goodwin sucks dick but is young and in a year or two can be a serviceable bench rotation guy. Chandler is what you want. 79% of his shots come within 3 feet where he shoots 69% and 80% of all his shots come within 10 feet. He's 33 but he's an elite athlete and still has 3 or so years left IMHO. He's gonna get you 10 points 13 boards a block on 30 mins a night while shooting a high percentage and can hit free throws. Bledsoe boosters the bench, use the draft pick to take the best defensive small forward you can, ID go Timothe Luwawu but jaylen brown works.
3. Let Crawford walk. His per has declined 3 consecutive years. He's not getting younger. He's gonna want 7-10 million frick that.
.
4. Try to sign deng. Clips will have about a projected 10 million under the cap go play with. I doubt he leaves Miami but he'd be a perfect fit. Joe Johnson is really a shooting guard and isnt a good enough defender for what they need.Nene would be another home run with Paul very high % pick and pop guy
Long but that's what I would do. Half arse blow up rebuild around Paul like the nets did with kidd
