Hear me out despite the beliefs I think Jrue is a great player and as we know his contract ends next season. As of right now he has no incentives to stay with the team with a losing situation and mismanagement of his injury. If Jrue doesn't agree to a reasonable extension he should be traded. It could be another Asik situations where we will have to out bid ourselves from him leaving with no options to replace him to give him the max. I'm not saying he will get the max on the open market but Asik wasnt going to get that 11mil year deal either. It was the price to keep him from walking. No matter what you think Jrue is not worth the max unless he proves to be the second fiddle on a championship team. So if he's not willing to sign an extension this is the best time to trade him to teams like the Jazz, Bucks, Magic, Sac and Knicks teams desperately need a guy like him. He could get us a great return with a young guy and a pick. So the choice is keeping Jrue and being OK to handi I capping ourselves shelling out that money for Jrue or trade him and getting more value for you cap to build a better team. You also can't ignore his leg issue giving out that type of money.

You've got to think AD is going to get tired of building for the future...

I agree but how good can we be giving Jrue that Money? He's a 15-17mil type guy. If we can trade Jrue for a guy like Burks, draft Dunn, sign a FA wing that's a good situation. So next season start Reke/Burks/Q/AD and let Dunn develop then let Reke walk after the season and open your self with max cap in a great FA class while having a Dunn/Burks backcourt.

I mean yeah, if you can do that...but Jrue was actually really good in the 2nd half of the season. He's good enough to be your 2nd best player and add to that. Health is always a concern with that dude though.

I can see Utah parting with Burks since Hood has been great.

Man you've got to be the dumbest poster on here. Maybe you need to stop making threads. You can post but they should take away your ability to create.

If Jrue is traded, will you take a break from the board for a little while?

You do realize that Burks has played in only 58 games the last 2 years b/c of injuries right?

I wouldn't mind the guy based on his stats, but based on his injury history, no way jose.

And why would Utah want Jrue? They have 4 PG's on their team already, drafting 2 in the last 3 years.

I agree but its just an example. It come down to how much are you willing to pay to keep Jrue?

If he can prove that he's healthy next season, he's a 20 mil player.

A lot.

He's a top 10 pg easily. Top 5 when he's on a roll.

And he actually plays defense. Creates for AD better than anyone on the team.

So yeah, I'd pay a lot.

why do we have to pay anything to keep him?
If we can trade him and get back good value, do it. If we can't, and he wants $20+ million, let him walk.

I really don't see him commanding $20+ million.
He's not CP3, Westbrook, Curry, Lillard or Irving.
$15 million is about the max someone of his caliber should get.
Unless he's your best player, a PG or a center should not make anywhere near the max b/c they are just role players.
the 2, 3 and the 4 are the money positions, imo.

He's not top 5 at all he's a good defender but stop acting like he's elite on the level of Bradely, Allen, Kawhi, or Draymond.

Staph
Westbroook
Cp3
Wall
Lillard are miles better

Then you have guys like Lowry, Bledsoe, Kyrie, Conley who have proven more and are arguably better too.

This is my point, its not what he's worth. He will easily get 16 mil in the open market its what it will cost us to keep him with no valuable options to replace him. Asik wasn't worth 11 mil but it was the price we paid to not have a hole at C. So Jrue can set his asking price at,18-20 mil or he'll say he will walk to a better situation for him then we're left with a hole at pg.

absolutely not

I like Jrue a lot by the way, but he's in the 7-12 range if you ask me, and that's when he's healthy.

His agent is probably going to want to sell that he's the #2 guy on the team and should get paid. We should say, he's #2 b/c we aren't good right now and he's not a #2 on a contender, but he's a really good #3 guy.
If he was a true #2 guy, we would have had a shot at making the playoffs this year, even with all the injuries.

AD/Jrue/Ryno played close to 60 games together this year before everyone quit at the end, and weren't close to .500 playing together. Shouldn't matter who else is on the court. If those 3 are as good as they think their contracts should be, they should have been at least a .500 team.

Frazier and Ish played well at PG, and like i said in my previous post, if Jrue was that good, why was our record terrible this year with a healthy AD/Jrue/Ryno?

I don't think he has that much to stand on right now after this year. Now if he goes next year and plays 70+ games and averages 18 and 7 or something similar and we improve greatly, then he might have a leg to stand on. Right now, he doesn't have much too positive to say about himself other than the relative health he had this year.

If we win the lottery, and draft a wing, than I think we should hold onto Jrue, assuming he is healthy next year.

If we draft at 6/7 and take Dunn/Murray, than I think moving Jrue is in play.

Yes we should trade everybody but AD and cheap starters/role players. But unless we hire a real GM it's pointless.
