Has anyone ever noticed how our Defensive Tackle talent has slowly slipped into complete mediocrity since Dorsey?

I really miss those days. Glenn Dorsey was an absolute freak. He was one of the MOST disruptive defensive tackles in SEC history. He was an absolute gamer. A game changer on the defensive line. A stat-sheet-stuffer. Since Dorsey there hasn't been much of a force in the middle of our line. It just have progressively gotten worse over the years.

2007 Bronko Nagurski Award
2007 Consensus All-America
2007 John Outland Trophy
2007 Ronnie Lott Trophy
2007 SEC Defensive Player of the Year
2007 Vince Lombardi Award

I mean yeah... those type of defensive tackles aren't on your team that often.

Not every DT that comes to LSU is expected to win the Nagurski Award, Lombardi Award, Outland Trophy, Lott Award, be a Bednarik Finalist, consensus All-American, first team All-American (twice), first-team All-SEC (twice), and SEC Defensive Player of the Year. We've had some good ones since 2007, but Dorsey was a VERY special player.

Davon Godchaux is criminally underrated. I honestly think he is our best interior lineman since Glenn Dorsey. (Yeah, I know that's saying a LOT.) Hopefully the new defense doesn't put him out of position.

But to answer your question. Yes, Glenn Dorsey at LSU was a generational talent, and we will likely never have a more decorated defensive lineman.

ETA: Piggybacking off of these stats.

Logan/Brockers combined Career stats 23 TFL - 7 Sacks

Godchaux had 6 sacks last year, almost as many as Logan/Brockers had in their career.

Dorsey was arguably the best defensive lineman to ever play at LSU (he definitely was the most decorated). It would be like looking at every running back we get from here on out and going "Well he's no Leonard Fournette."

OP has a point. The DT position has declined since Dorsey.

Or what if teams learned how to deal with these talented DTs, because Dorsey started it.

Didn't Nevis have 10 sacks in 2010?

Dorsey was a special player, but this is just plain ignorant.

1. Brockers only played 2 years.
2. Drake Nevis had more TFL in 3 years than Dorsey did in 4. Does that make him better?

Personally, I think Lavalais' '03 season was just as good, if not better than Dorsey's in '07. Seemed more disruptive IMO.

Dorsey 69 1/2 tackles, 12.5 TFL, 4 pass break ups & 4 pass deflections.

Lavalais 61 tackles, 16 TFL, 1 interception, 6 pass break ups & 7 pass deflection

no. There are great players every year.

How about Cam Robinson for one we are familiar with.

You kind of answered your own question didn't you? How many other teams have had a player like Dorsey since he left LSU? They're have been some that were close I guess but it's not like LSU just had Dorsey and all the linemen after him were just awful. That's like saying was Tyrann Mathieu a once in a lifetime type player because none of our DB's have been that good since he left. Well, yeah he was a once in a lifetime type player and you don't find guys like that every year.

There won't be another Dorsey for a long time. I don't understand why you're surprised that we don't have more DL like him.

I've been watching some of the negative responses you are getting and it's amazing. Yes, we've had some really good defensive tackles at LSU, but I can't think of one better than Dorsey. He used to toss offensive line players around like rag dolls. He'd make tackles tossing the OL player into the running back. After the dirty play by Auburn he wasn't the same at LSU.

just wish he had been able to transition that dominance he had in College to the NFL.
Glen Dorsey is not a household name in the NFL.
