10 22 Target or Accesorize

I want a Ruger 10/22 with a bull barrel. Can't decide if I will buy the Target model, or buy inexpensive base model, and buy aftermarket trigger, barrel, and stock. Are any of yall happy with the Target model?

I have 2 10/22's one of them I did what you are saying bought a base rifle and switched out everything. The other one I bought just the reciever and bought everything to build the rifle. It isn't cheap either way but both rifles will hit a dime at 50yds with all 10 shots in a mag. And it is cool to say that you put the rifle together.
I would say build it yourself.

Build it yourself.
What brand of barrel are you looking at? I had a bull barrel on mine that I really liked but it was heavy. I bought the tactical solutions barrel and put it on the gun. Cut the weight in half and just as if not more accurate.

Don't mind the weight. Haven't really looked at the different barrel brands. Think I might just buy rifle at Cabelas. Then go to a sight like midway and get the barrel, hogue stock, and that bx22 trigger.

Where did you buy the receiver?

Babe,
I don't have a Target Model, but I've played around w/ 3 base model 10/22's and a Charger. Most recently installed a Hogue overmolded stock and Feddersen threaded barrel. This was going to be a hunting rifle so I went w/ a factory contour barrel instead of a bull barrel. Yeah, I could've bought a very high end bull barrel that would've been as light as a factory contour barrel, but I really didn't feel like spending the extra money. I'd previously changed out a few internals (bolt buffer, trigger and mag drop lever). I've been really pleased so far, but regret that I've not shot it as much as I was hoping to. Here's the Link for more details.
If you're minimally handy and want to spec out the 10.22 as YOU want it, I'd go customized base rifle route; if not, buy the Target Model. If you're going to hunt w/ the rifle, I'd suggest a factory contour steel barrel or a non-conventional bull barrel instead of the much heavier full steel bull barrel.

Go on slickguns.com and order a 10/22 for 200 bucks off sportsman guide and then send it to sulzer for the transfer fee. Bam, you just bought a 10/22 for a grand total of 230 bucks

I bought a Ruger 1022, model 1237. It's an Acu Sport special order, they call it, I believe, a Sporter. Has a heavier barrel but not as large as a target. I changed out the trigger with the kit from Kidd. It will stay on that 50 yard dime all day.
