He's free to use steroids; the others aren't. Advantage: Bonds

Agreed. And if Griffey had stayed healthy he would have been better than Barry.
Maybe if he had taken steroids he would have been able to stay healthy.
I don't understand the anti-steroid crowd. These guys are professional athletes, not amateurs. They make money by being on the field, and we watch because our favorite players are on the field. I don't see the harm in grown men making that decision for themselves, especially since most of the usage was to overcome injuries. Let them do what is necessary for them to get, and stay, on the field. The physical side effects are theirs to deal with.
Sports are better when guys can stay healthy, or at the very least, can cut down on recovery time.
The anti-steroid high horse needs to be taken out back and shot.

I hope you are joking. Bonds roided to get as big as he could. Had nothing to do with injury. So what you are. Saying is that if bonds doesn't do roided Griffey would have been better.

To win dick measuring contests such as a backfield homerun competition.

Surely there is video showing some of what Andy is saying?

He looks great now. I wish he would have played at that weight and been a five tool player instead of the roided freak looking power hitter he turned into.

Yes, Bond did roids. But his gains over the period of time they happened in was not that remarkable in my experience, and the experience of friends/teammates. Nor is his weight loss after the fact.
The day I walked into the 8th grade I was 5-8 145 and benched 125, the day I walked into the 9th grade I was 5-9 225 and benched 275. That's 80 lbs in a year, and a massive increase in strength, though the 80 lbs was not 100% muscle. Bond's gains happened over a period of several years.
In regards to Griffey. I absolutely think steroids could have helped him stay healthy. The question isn't how good he could have been/not been, but simply if they would have allowed him to have played more games, and the answer is yes.

I still consider Maris and Aaron to be the single-season and career home run leaders
Some baseball fans are so ridiculous.
It is history. You can't act like it didn't exist. Everyone (fans, media) also were all about it until they just up decided to create these villains. It was part of the game and people want to act like the shite is so pure.
The baseball hof is a joke.

the difference in bonds and girffey is that griffey would have never done the work to get big like bonds did
i was a huge griffey fan as a kid but that dude was lazy as frick and did not take care of his body at all. that's why he broke down
no way he just gets a 180 degree shift in philosophy

Man, I wish Bonds hadn't got tied in to that. He was the best player I've ever seen with or without roids.
Posted on 3/16/16 at 6:07 pm to msudawg1200
i'm glad we all got to see that year or 2
that shite was insane. it really did feel like if he wasn't intentionally walked, he'd smash a double or HR

A HoF can't be legit if the GOAT of that sport isn't in it. Barry Bonds isn't in the HoF, so it's a joke.

Not even CLOSE to what was going on in the 90s. False equivalency.

it's not a FE if there is some major "line"
when you engage in that sort of black/white fallacy, it has to apply across the board

Anybody get bigger on greenies?
Posted on 3/16/16 at 6:20 pm to FightinTigersDammit
no but that's one aspect of the bigger picture
anybody ever get the energy to play more games from steroids? no
anybody ever get a major focus-boost from steroids? no
it goes both ways (or else players wouldn't use greenies to cheat in the first place)

You do get extra energy from greenies, but it's not like you get better than you were before.

Yeah it's called a growth spurt during puberty. That doesn't happen when you're 35 years old
