There is a light kit...and yes there are two switches...one for the light and one for fan. This fan will be controlled by the remote...so I'll just cap the red and disregard then.

I would still tie the fan and light to separate switches. Wouldnt you occasionally light to turn the fan on and the light off ?

That is correct. I have done the same when the fan/light are controlled by a remote.
