What a weird thing to compare when one of these guys doesn't shoot the ball outside of 2 feet ever.

Simmons shoots 56% on 2pt FGs

Ingram shoots 47%.

Not only that but Simmons gets to the FT line 10x a game. He has a chance to make a James Harden impact at the FT line in the NBA. He'll lead the league in FT attempted at some point, no doubt.

sure it helps, but lets not pretend defense isnt a mindset. Ingram isnt interested in being the next Kawhi Leonard.

i mean, i dont think he will become the best perimeter defensive player in the game. i do however think that he will become an above replacement level defensive player that provides defensive value while on the court. i think his offensive potential is off the charts and he can become a valuable defensive player even if he will never be the actual best defensive player in the league

jesus, this has nothing to do with people hating on simmons.

And I'd give Simmons a B in potential.

I have not bought into the Simmons hype. At All.

Simmons plays soft as frick for 80% of every game.

He was an opportunistic scorer who didn't defend for shite.

People jump on the hate on Simmons bandwagon simply because the LSU basketball team was a huge disappointment. Simmons exceeded the already lofty expectations of being the #1 prospect.

And there is absolutely no reason why Simmons' shooting shouldn't improve in the NBA. He has the form for it. Shoots FT's reasonably well. He will develop it.

That said I love Ingram as a prospect. I would love to have him on the Pels.

MJ averaged 13.4 points a game as a freshman, with 4.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists, on 53% shooting. Simmons did better at everything.

Who else played on that NC team?

The last thing the MSB needs is another Harden.

(I do not think Simmons will be MJ, that is absurd. Just proving a point.)

Not talking about stats.

Talking about what I see with my own eyes.

But ... keep on pimpin' Simmons ... try not to be too disappointed.

yep, his shooting will definitely improve once he is paid to practice.

You can count on one hand the guys in the NBA over 6'6" that can handle the ball like Simmons. He can finish in the lane, he is a great passer, gets to the foul line. You can't teach his feel for the game. I like Ingram too, but the mobile ball handler with great size is going to trump the "stagnant" wing scorer with great size 10x's out of 10.

I'm not saying these guys are going to be anywhere near that good, but the closest best case scenarios are Lebron and Durant.

i know what youre saying

im just saying, free points are huge in the NBA. and the GOATs were all great at getting to the foul line. Kobe, Jordan, Lebron. Iverson, DWade. Now guys like Harden, Westbrook, Durant, Carmelo. All really good at drawing fouls, all generally play/played on winning teams

Again, the question isn't whether we'd take Ben Simmons or Michael Jordan.

i see Durant in Ingram at times, but he isnt close to having the same killer instinct Durant had, even at the same age. Guy has a lot of developing to do. Simmons has the body and mindset to start next year in the NBA

i wouldnt even really compare him to durant. i still think hes a less athletic, better perimeter scoring version of antetokounmpo

This means totally NOTHING... MJ was not THE guy on that team..Most had never heard of him until he hit that shot in the title game... Simmons was supposed to BE THE GUY.. Sure he had better stats,,, Dean Smith played with a certain structure that the players followed... Once MJ got into the NBA he went OFF... He could freelance and play the kind of ball he was not allowed at UNC...

Should Simmons be penalized for dominating in the paint for some reason?

Yes because he isn't going to dominate in the paint on the next level.

Simmons needs to add aggression, and a jump shot. Ingram needs to add weight. If neither do so, we will be looking back at this year's draft as a rather disappointing one.
