Nope

Only assholes give them money

They play the odds game. Giving them money only encourages more begging

I do. Me giving is my duty. What they do with their money is up to them. God will not judge me by what they bought. When asked did you feed me when I was hungry I want to be able to say yes.

I generally don't unless they look incapacitated or handicapped in some way. It seems cruel but it feels like giving them money enables them to stay homeless and on the streets. At the same time though if you're 50 and homeless you will probably just die on the streets, so giving them a buck isn't the worst thing to do.

Are you saying God is a homeless person asking for money, or am I misinterpreting this?

Giving an addict money to support their vice does not make you a person of faith. It makes you an enabler.

I was accosted by a guy a few weeks ago who said he just got back from the ER with his four year old, the child had a high fever, and he didn't have enough money to to fill the prescription. The kid was with him. He offered to let me hold his driver's license until payday next week, yada yada. I just gave him a twenty. I was about 90% sure it was a scam, but who the hell knows, I haven't seen him again, so maybe it was on the level.

Give your money to the shelters and organizations that help the homeless. That will do more good.

Not if its an obvious BS deal, but I've given scraggly characters money. NBD.

I was taught from an early age that you had to work if you wanted money. Fifty years later, I still feel strongly about it and believe it to be true.

Yes, if you like your money going to the local crack dealer or liquor store.

Give to a charity provider to the homeless assures that you're money benefits the homeless, not their dealers and suppliers.
