it just doesnt pass the smell test. they brought Osborne in just to hire a HC, and it seems to me he would want to make a splash with a 'major' hire. BP has some national credentials (earned or not). Gill may be a good coach, but i think his interview is little more than espn press bait.

Why he will be out of town the University at Buffalo would not say. Now that press-conference has been postponed indefinitely.

I seriously doubt he would make a lateral move...to just another DC job. Bo and his family like it here...He leaves for a Head job, not just another DC gig.

yeah, but he probably realizes that he's burned some bridges here. I really don't think he'll be invited to come back to coach next year, no matter what.

Unlikely. Tom Osborne was in Turner Gill's wedding. They are close personal friends. I doubt that Osborne would do that to anyone, let alone a close personal friend.

From what I gather Gill is the man and could be named as early as tomorrow. 3 interviews were done. Pelini's done here in BR, Gill and Grobe in Atlanta.

Gill is a former Heisman finalist at nebraska under Osborne. 13 years as an assistant under TO (winning 3 NCs in the 90's), Solich and Callahan. A top-notch recruiter. I think it is going to happen.

Could be the other way around - Make Gill the OC/Assistant Head Coach/QB coach, and Pelini the HC. I think they want to go defense with their next head coach. However, my scenario makes less sense, overall, as Gill is older and already has HC experience. I still think they've already hired Pelini, so maybe they go young for the OC (Major Applewhite?).

He seems like the front runner for the Job. Don't know why it's so funny. It's clearly him and Bo in the front of the pack to get that job. Dr. Tom was the best man in Gill's wedding and we know he got an interview...

Not quite, but thanks for the stereotype.

Whoever said this is an idiot and you obviously have never been to Nebraska.

And there is NO WAY Turner Gill is just a minority interview. Nebraska loves Turner Gill even if the people on this board don't. I'd be excited if he or Bo became our coach. We trust Tom Osborne.

Have some faith people. Things will work out.

Tom Osborne was brought in not just to fix football, but to fix the mess S Pederson made. TO isn't trying to make a "big splash". It's not his nature to please people with a huge name hire. TO will pick the guy who understands NU tradition and who wins football games. A big name "big splash" hire is what got us where we are. It's like seeing 5 stars next to a recruits name and assuming he can play football. To is gonna look at character and Turner has been the name on everyone's mind since Solich's firing.

The fact that SOME fans...caught up in an emotional over reaction to a disapointing loss, are blaming Bo, does not mean that Miles is blaming Bo. From conversations I've had with Les, I get the impression he is, overall, very pleased with his DC.

Bo may not be here next year, but if he is gone, it won't be because he was fired.

This is not funny at all. If Les to Michigan falls through we could be stuck with Pelini one more year. I'd really like to unload him while we can.

Well, I wasn't trying to be funny. Pelini is one of, if not THE top DC's in the country. You are entitled to disagree of coarse, but them what know, think highly of Bo! And I'm speaking of his colleagues in the coaching profession. LSU is very fortunate to have him. Knee jerk over reactions to a bad game or two by some fans is counter productive.

I'm just sayin' so don't be hatin'!
