Highly qualified certification was a goal of NCLB, signed by GWB (required by the state and gov to teach). I am not sure why she is so rustled. The requirements were known. I am not taking up for the city schools, because they are terrible, but this is a non issue. National certs is optional, and often done for a raise.

Yeah. It has nothing to do the lack of two parents or even a mother in the home. It has nothing to do with glorifying the rap/thug culture. It has nothing to do with the lack of respect in the classroom. It certainly doesn't have anything to do with the mindset that the government will provide so one doesn't need an education.

You're right all blame is on the school systems...

I'm just wondering why anyone is surprised.

When you don't value education, and frankly the black community doesn't. You get stupid people. 80% single parent mothers is monumentally stupid. Raising kids is hard, doubly so if there's just one of you.

There's lots of white families that don't value education either. Those kids are getting passed through to graduate stupid. There's just enough kids whose parents still do value an education to bring the average up.

EVERYONE in this thread should research what happened at George Hall school in Mobile.

edit-welp, that was the wrong link...

Either way, google it. Low income, bad neighborhood school, completely turned around.

This topic is nothing new and I can't believe for a second that anyone with a pulse doesn't know why things are this way. To blame it on white ppl or the system is the most delusional shot I've ever heard. Every town or city has its underachieving "black" schools and its majority white school that excels. If the second option is not available then it's a private school. Black communities are generally shitty and it spews over into the schools. Can't get kids to listen and in turn can't find a descent teacher. PLZ, black ppl help yourself and strengthen your race and kids. Only you can do it

I don't like over generalizations posted in your thread, but your thread has the correct answer in it, that only blacks will be able to help blacks.
It's not that whites can't or won't help blacks, it's the fact it MUST start at home. Then the neighborhood, then friends at the school, and so on.
It's the only way. Money and government programs will only go so far.
You only get out what you put in.

So one post you put this

quote:

yes but that is hard to do when a vast majority grow up in single parent homes

And the VERY next post you respond to another poster with this

quote:

You painting with a pretty wide brush. You think all blacks fit this M.O. or is this what you see on the news?

Again, read about all the people (many white) that invested in, fought hard for, and didn't quit when shite got tough at George Hall.

There has to be an example somewhere. Someone that these kids can trust and won't just disappear. Very few people actually come from nothing all on their own. They had someone, somewhere along the way to show them real hope and trust.

When I started school back in the 60's the parish I lived in desegregated the schools. I would say about 10% of the black kids there were great kids that did well all the way through school. The rest of them didn't give a shite, and spent most of their time being disruptive and basically had no concept of how to act civilized. A small percentage of white kids also fell into this category.
These animals would spend their recess, before and after school time in small gangs basically terrorizing the rest of us. If a white kid so much as looked at one of them the wrong way, he would be immediately surrounded like a calf being surrounded by hyenas on Wild Kingdom. I spent many years in school not knowing from day to day when my turn was coming. It was a shitty experience. Funny, I don't see any Hollywood movies depicting anything remotely like this. It's always the other way around, the poor innocent black kids being surrounded and called the N word by a bunch of fair-haired evil white kids. I know this experience couldn't have been isolated to just the school I attended, but no one will ever know because its not PC to suggest anything contrary to the fabrications that have been popularized by the media and Hollywood.

This article seems to assume the only possible issue at play must be racism.

2-week/9 hr days course taken back in mid-70's had great effect upon yours truly. Long discussions in cause-effect of personal responsibility...example remembered: So you're born blind, poor and mother lost at birth. Father favors your brother, pays for education, gets car, etc.,etc. Your condition is whose responsibility??? The obvious answer is wrong! Have fun if you wish.

Whatever the issue, it is yours to bare and alter. There is no excuse other than the system and its participants failing to take responsibility for "change and improvement". You or I will not judge, that is left to greatness.

to everyone in this thread. These discussions always result in racist BS and ppl pointing the finger. Backing it up with facts and examples is how it should be played. No nonsense, just facts. I do feel bad for the black man who realizes this, try's to better himself, but is separated from the herd because he is a sell out to the white man. Every single black friend of mine is automatically cut off from his black peers because we are friends. It's a damn shamed.

My son's best friend at school is black. He catches hell from the other black kids at school for not being "black" enough. Its a damn shame.
