You nailed it, but this isn't something new. There are people in general that only value themselves as others value them. There's always been people like that.
She has low self-esteem. Even the making babies comment demonstrates that. She said she needs to stay alive to have someone's babies. In her mind, someone values her so she'll stick around, otherwise she'd off herself.

We sports fans love a good story of someone who gets back up after being knocked down.
Her 15 minutes is just about up though. She'll never be what she was pre-knockout so a redemption story is all that's left. She'll fight Holm again and then ride off into the sunset and start making babies, as she so eloquently put it.
