Maybe Don's seafood hut on Johnston. That was one of the two things Phares' did decent when they were open.

They did one thing incredible and one thing decent.
The cheesecake was incredible.
The chargrilled oysters were decent.

Don's on Johnston. Sit in the bar area. The dining room is for old people.

I haven't had Drago's oysters yet..but I can't wait for them to open.
Had Don's a couple of years ago. They were uneatable. Overcooked, so much cheese and garlic that i couldn't eat them. Ordered a dozen raw. THOSE were uneatable also.
Haven't been back since, and i used to be a regular.
Place has gone downhill, but still has a fantastic business somehow...

I'd second Dupuy's. Hook and Boil has some decent chargrilled. But I'd still make the trek to Abbeville.

I can't wait for Drago's either, but I keep hearing they are having trouble with a location.

Watched my neighbor scarf down 2 dozen chargrilled oysters as an appetizer before the 5 lb order came.
I ate two of his oysters, they were delicious.
We were at Crawfish Time on Verot.

Pick a place in Abbeville, can't go wrong. Shucks has good ones too.

They have a kids buffet and play a movie one night a week. When my wife is there I'll walk over a eat a burger. I like the burger

I heard they gave up on Lafayette completely and opted instead on focusing on Baton Rouge or Lake Charles.

Yep, that developer who punched the IND woman at a Mardi Gras parade a few years back is the one to blame for it falling through.

it would be nice to have a decent one close by but any of the 3 in abbeville are better than drago's
