What are your thoughts on Moffitization?

As a 50 year old poster, seems like I've kinda seen our football team, at one time or another, in all possible phases of the strength and conditioning area, like in terms of how we measure up in that area. I saw us get physically manhandled by some Nebraska teams that had bought into the weight lifting / conditioning angle long before we did, then watched our guys seem
to out-physical everyone else several years later. Moffitt was thought to be the best in the business at one time in terms of taking raw ability and turning into a useful football player, but now, seems like folks who follow this kinda thing much more than I do think we are behind again. I got no clue.
What's the truth? Has new technology in that area made him "not as good", as he hadn't kept up? Is it just a past him prime thing? Sure looks as if general consensus around here says it's time for a change. I am I just seeing a bunch of squeaky wheels?

Seems like he's transitioned to crossfit and ballet and the rest are still working their arse off bulking and gaining muscle and gaining endurance.

i know that 2 of the 5 best teams in the nation are led by Moffitt disciples. I know other schools come to learn his methods.. I know that we are putting out a ton of talent. I know he is getting blamed for Miles' & Co struggles & players declaring early.

There are suggestions the science is passing him by.
I don't know how to assess these claims, one way or the other.
Who knows if we should be concerned about remaining competitive here?

There's nothing new under the sun in S&C. If the coaches motivate and the players buy into it, they will get stronger. There are a few tweaks here and there, but it all boils down to pushing progressively heavier weights in some systematic protocol. Ditto for cardio endurance.
In 2011 we were rotating 2 and 3 deep in our defensive front 7 and everybody was raving about Moffitizing, when it was really about keeping fresh players out there at all times. Lack of depth is the reason our guys have been getting pushed around.

I Don't know what's going on, but both sides of the ball just can't keep getting manhandled by the three team in the western division and y'all know what team's I'm talking about.

and you dont think that is a talent or coaching problem? How a guy like Danielle Hunter(who was Moffit'd) can triple the amount of sacks in hte NFL than what he had his whole career at LSU.
our 2 best players in the NFL right now are ODB and Trai Turner
ODB was a pencil neck coming in, and Turner was a humongous fatass. They were Moffit'd, or nah, by the time they left LSU?

I'm gonna have to agree with Jim on this one. The lack of depth has caused the illusion of being physically weaker than some of our opponents.

moffit trains them like the coaches tell him they want them, i.e. fast and agile, instead of big and strong

Those teams you are referring to simply have bigger bodied individuals. Able to add more bulk and weight than our recent linemen. I don't blame Moffit. I chalk it up to recruiting. Hopefully coach O and Aranda will bring those guys back to the D-line consistently and Grimes on the O-line as well.

bullshite. Hunter tripled his output bc he was actually coached up in the NFL. Brick sucked arse. Trai Tuner was still huge until he left for the NFL. He was always crazy strong even in High School. None of these players being elite was bc they were mofitized.

Any S&C coach needs to move on after about 6 years. They run out of tricks, players figure them out...same old, same old.
Shelf life for them is about 6 years. For a head coach not named Saban, about 10 if they are lucky.

I've notice for least the last five years, that when our offensive line and defensive line guys at the combine doesn't usually do as well as most of the other linemen at The bench press.I've heard him on the radio several times saying how benchpress doesn't matter. But we steadily get pushed around by our three main rivals. I really don't buy that the benchpress doesn't matter, especially in the trenches. I think he has them in good physical shape they're just not as strong

I read an article on the guy at FSU who learned under Moffitt and, yeah, what Moffitt does/teaches is incredible.

thats what im saying dumbass. It's the coaching. For his production to jump like that, it isnt moffit's fault.
Hunter put on 20lbs at LSU too, all good weight. Yea he has freak genes, but still.

Trai Tuner was still huge until he left for the NFL
He was 310 at the NFL combine, and was listed at 332 as a Freshman at LSU and had the biggest gut on the team. That is a huge difference.
