Context is key here

Brees was a huge gamble (He was in a sling when he was introduced into his press conference) and paid off immensely.

Everyone knew what Manning was bringing to the table

This guy gets it.

Wade Phillips pick up as "free agent "had a lot more to do with the victory last night than Manning = Fact.

Ehh,

Manning 4 years, 4 trips to the playoffs, one super bowl victory, two afc championship game victories

Brees 10 years, 5 trips to the playoffs, one super bowl victory, one nfc champ game victory.

Brees means more to the city of New Orleans then Manning means to Denver. Hell, Drew is everything here and he always will be. But I cant argue with the production Denver got out of Manning

Missing an entire season with a serious neck injury? You don't think Peyton was a gamble?

And let's just leave out the state of the teams

ok. The Broncos were 20-28 the three seasons before Manning:
8-8
4-12
8-8

The saints were 19-29
8-8
8-8
3-13

The Broncos won a playoff game the year before Manning...with Tim Tebow

The saints were 8-8 the year before the Super Bowl. Solid logic, clearly we were in turmoil

You're really going to try and argue the state of both franchises were similar?

Of course you are

That's true, too.

Gotta love these debates.

Dont be mad I answered you damn questions with the actual answer Drew means more to the city and more to the franchise then Peyton does for Denver. But in terms of accomplishments it is hard to call Drews signing a greater pick up. You can disagree but no need for the hostility my brother

3 years in the NFL is an enternity. 3-13 vs 8-8 + a playoff win

You really think the 2 franchises were in similar states?

What hostility?

Yes I am. You want to go back 5 years?

Broncos 36-44
Saints 35-45

That is 5 seasons worth of trend. It seems the franchises were pretty damn similar.

Why not 30? Hell, the Broncos won the same amount of playoff games the year before Manning as the entire saints franchise history pre-Brees

The point

Your head

1 seems like plenty in the NFL...

The two franchises were mirror images. Hell, Denver was probably the worse job

Ok

8-8 to 12-4 with manning

3-13 to 10-6 with drew

Both teams with 3 pro bowlers

Both turned their respective teams around right away

Your trump of "compare the franchises" isnt really all that different no matter how you want to slice it

Way more.

Only because it was over a longer period of time and the history of the franchise was pathetic

But even if you just took the first 4 years of each

Manning - 4 playoff appearances, 2 superbowl appearances, 1 super bowl win

Brees - 2 playoff appearances, 1 superbowl appearance with a win

Considering that Manning did it in the twilight of his career and that 4 year stretch was in the prime for Brees I don't know how you could say that Brees did "way more"

Tell me more about how the Saints at the end of 2005 were as good as the Broncos at the end of 2011.

Loving this. We were a free agents wet dream

I think we all know that the Denver Broncos were not the complete rebuilding job that the post Katrina New Orleans Saints were so the fact that the records from the previous X years are similar is pretty irrelevant.

Having said that, Manning "produced" more but Brees was the more important FA signing.

Reggie White and Deion Sanders beat them both, though.
