the story i always heard, from NBA guys(locals who played), was that:

Eva and Tony was a sham, Tony likes the penis, and Eva was a front, and she loved picking car keys out of jars.

But people talk.

Selena Gomez creeps me out a little because she looks so young. I feel pervish lusting after her.

Which drug out for more than a year, and preceded a jersey # change.

People were still talking about it in 2006. Do you even Larry Nance Jr Twitter?? And that was just from a few years ago

ETA: there is a reason Nance has to call Kobe "Mr. Bryant" now

That series will always be special to me. My G/F at the time and I rushed to Love field and met the team off the plane thru the fence along with over 100 Mavs fans.

The players walked about 100 yards over to us and gave us fives thru the wire fence .

That's pretty cool

That series was the peak of my hate for Dirk and the Mavs (although, honestly, I hated Jason Terry the most ). Since then I've grown to have great respect for da Big Kraut. Seeing him and Duncan play on the same court the past few years has been a treat because you never know when it could be the last time.

Yeah, that's some sour grapes

Tony's married to a non-celebrity now and has a kid. Also chases the limelight a whole lot less post-Eva, which is probably best for everyone

He totally fricked Brent Barry's wife, though

Same here! Went to game 6 of that series (JET suspended for punching Fin in the balls)

There was a hostility in the air that will never be duplicated. Can't remember the last time the AAC felt like it was gonna erupt into an Anchorman fight.

There were legit mean mugs of hatred between Spurs fans and us , and was fully prepared for something to pop off. That's how serious the hate was in 2006.

Now, I'm like you, and have grown to respect them, but it's a more healthy hatred

Probably was.

That marriage was never going to last. Too much time apart thanks to their occupations, Tony was a horndog and Eva chases the young bucks

It got real real, real quick that year That was the first year both teams were favorites to win it all (even in '03, no one really expected y'all to beat us with Dirk hurt--so of course y'all almost did exactly that ).

Great rivalry. To this day, the most fun games at the AT&T Center are when the Mavs come to town--some folks still bring the old hate (and, if the "Go Spurs Go!" chants up at the AAC this season are any indication, that hate is reciprocated ). Good times.

Maaaan....my family was stationed overseas in Greece during that series. Had to get up at 0-dark thirty and tiptoe through the house to watch the playoff games on Armed Forces Network.

Woke up the whole damn house screaming when Kerr detonated Y'all had us DEAD. TO. RIGHTS., and then Jackson and Kerr go ham out of nowhere. Kerr hadn't played the whole playoffs up to that point, iirc Just a stupid turn of events.

Ended up being huge, too--rumor was that Dirk was healthy enough to come back for a game 7. Did not want to face that. At all

Fun fact: Spurs won every series in route to the '03 title in 6 games. It was also the first year it was possible to do so, as I believe the first round had just gotten changed from best of 5 to best of 7.

so true. I thought it was over, and decided to leave buddy's house and listen to it on the radio. Thought it was a bad dream when I kept hearing "KERR ANOTHER 3!!"

He didn't do shite all series and wakes up his Jordan days. Dirk was gonna come back and I was so sure we had it . AGHH . He rolled ankles so many times, it was like scraping his arm on a fence after a while

This was the Dallas 03 first round correct?

For some reason I want to say that was the team with Speedy on it.

Went from best of 5 to 7 in first round I think in 2003 or 2004?
Only reason I remember I b/c Mavs beat Stockton /Malone Jazz in 2001 or 2002 for first playoff series win in decade and a half.
