To clarify, if they have the lead when the clock hits 5:00 remaining in the game, they have won 160 consecutive times.

Doesn't that seem incredible to anyone else?

The streak was in jeopardy tonight. They were leading Colorado State by 1 with 5 minutes to play, and then went behind by 3 with just over 2:30 remaining. They ended up winning by 2.

Their defensive mindset has to have a lot to do with not blowing any leads.

This streak would make more sense in football...but with basketball...up and down the court, fouls, freaky shots, this is one of the most bizarre stats ever.

They play games like soccer. One point is an insurmountable lead.

Know how I know Johnny Jones has never been head coach of the Aztecs?

That's an unbelievable stat. I'd like to see Mike Anderson's record when leading with 5 minutes to play. I bet his longest streak in his career is like 5 games.

Yeah Steve Fisher. Dude can apparently coach. SDSU has been ridiculously consistent the last 10 years or so.

He for sure has proven to be a damn good coach out there. SDSU was a nothing program when he got there.

Fisher has been there since 1999. That's amazing to think about too.

So in other words, the polar opposite of LSU basketball.

And yes, Steve Fisher is a very good basketball coach. He has been remarkably consistent at San Diego State.

Eta: Wow just did some research. Only 3 losing seasons since 1999. Has won 20+ games every season since 2005, including a 34 & 31 win season. SDSU had exactly 2 winning seasons in the 15 years prior to Fisher's HC tenure.

Yeah, but they lost to San Diego.

Not even the best in their city.

The first question that comes to mind is how a bigger school hasn't ever hired him away?
