A day off of work in the middle of the week just to talk LSU football, drink beer, and eat jambalaya. Let me know when I get to the part that sucks.

The silent auction is cool. That's the whole reason my brother goes, he usually walks away with several items. He beat out Louis Coleman in a bidding war on a painting a few years back.
TGBFTL comes and play for the crowd later in the day followed by Miles and the rest of the coaching staff. Former LSU players hanging out.

Sounds great!

We usually get there about 9 to 9:30 and stay until the end when Les speaks.

Cool, thanks. Sounds like it will be worth hanging around for the day. Makes sense, since the announcements should be rolling in sporadically throughout. I'm sure there will be other interesting things happening as well.

50+ year Tiger. I make 2-4 games a year, watch all on TV. Is it worth the trip from Monroe (alone)?

It was great when it first started...now it's awful and over priced......kinda. like game day parking and all the rules/restrictions now ...Lsu does a great job of screwing up things for the little man...everything now is a corporate event

So I'm going to be sitting in my office in Houston following the commitments online with no beer, jambalaya, coaches speaking or LSU celebs around. Wish I was going to be at the Bash.

Wish they would host this thing in the P-Mac.

Probably 6-7 yrs ago it was The recruiting bash in the country. Other universities use to come and check it out.

They managed to screw it up every year since. Started with confusing and long lines for beer and food. After a few yrs of over planning it was too much of a cluster, then BRPD had a checkpoint outside the event. This pissed off everyone. Since then its been floundering.

They could have survived the "over planning" part of it, but that spider's web DWI check point just about ruined it. I hear/read they were arresting people with under a .08 BAC. Nobody wants to go to an event under the fear of being arrested after literally drinking two beers. That's ridiculous.

Announcements start coming in first thing in the morning. Most are in by noon.

Throughout the day there are guest speakers on the stage. Former players, local sport figures, current and former coaches.

Used to be awesome. Now it sucks.

Guy on BR sports radio yesterday was talking about it. Said that for the $20 (in advance - $25 at the door) you get Jambalya (and I think coleslaw, bread and maybe white beans) and 1 beer. Said the "grill" would also be open whatever that is. Probably a River Center thing.

Guy read a list of former players they'll have there - a good selection. I remember Harvey William's name, I think Jacob Hester and a bunch of others. Said Manieri would likely be there.

Tables go as high as $2000 for 10 people for those closest to the stage on down. Apparently the food selection is better for them.

I've never been. Always relegated to listening to my radio to pick up the trickle of signings as they dole them out.

Last time I went was when Jai Eugene signed with LSU.

There was unlimited beer and food which included breakfast and lunch from many local restaurants.

If you want free booze, walk over to the casino.

From what I've read on here about the current state of the Bayou Bash, I would not go back. Back then the day dragged on what seemed like forever.

Come back next week and give your opinion on what you experienced.
