To be honest, Fitzgerald, GA is not exactly a hotbed of criminal activity I would put it on par with somewhere like Rayville, LA. Now I have no idea what this guys extra curricular activities were but its is not a bad area compared to some places in the state of Georgia.

The problem is you can't claim the winnings anonymously in all but 6 states.
You can with a trust. Get a large trust firm from out of your city to pick up the winnings.

They are in the process of passing a law here in GA for letting you remain anonymous for a fee of course. The initial proposal was 25% of your winnings to the hope scholarship. Typical BS, what do they think will happen when all of your info is being flashed throughout the state?

I would not pose with a big check.
does anyone know? do you have to do all the publicity?
I would want NO publicity EVER.

Doesn't work in all states. Some states the person who signs the back of the ticket has to personally deliver the winning ticket to collect.

Damn. That's not really that much money for someone to want to kill you over...and its not like the guy could have taken all that money from him at his house....terrible.
Demons, bro...they know this, but the robbery is a clever disguise for their hit on him .
He was trying to do some good with that money? Add a jealous man with demons and result not surprising.

Yea that's why people choose that name.

Just because Larry down at the plant said that's how he'd do it doesn't mean it's possible.

That sucks. Is it known if he was targeted because he won or random?

This is a damn shame what happened to the guy. I think the people making stupid comments probably didn't read the article.

People choose it because they are part of a civilization that has used the name for centuries. By doing so they evince a respect for their ancestors and do a small part in continuing that civilization.
Making up names out of whole cloth is the act of people with no regard for history and disdain for their fellows. It's the product of an unhealthy society.

That's sad. Sounds like he was a good guy too considering he used some of the money for charity...hopefully someone in the family can manage the money and put it in a trust for his kids for when they get older so they can have a better life
