Two teenagers are surprised by a guy catching them breaking into his car, so they kill him because they hadn't thought about what to do in such a scenario.
They thought it out in advance. They decided beforehand to murder anyone who caught them. That's then whole reason for bringing a weapon along.

The problem is you can't claim the winnings anonymously in all but 6 states.
This is a sad story.

Couldn't be helped. He was Craigory JR.

Craigory?
As if Greg and Craig weren't already too easy to confuse.

Such a fricked up mentality. What do you get for breaking into a car? Six months, a year maybe? And that's worth taking someones life? Scary world we live in.

Am I the only who thinks this doesn't sound right? Why would the criminals only shoot the dude? If you're gonna commit capital murder, why leave witnesses at all? Story says the GF ran and got help after the victim was shot. This along with the cries don't do this in front of my gf/kids implies they all were around when the attack occurred.

We jokingly called my friend Craig that in HS. I never knew that it was used as a real name.

Guy is murdered in cold blood and we have people on here ragging about his name. Geez. What an awful story.

terrible story.
400k should be enough to at least find a better house in a better neighborhood.
probably not enough to retire on but i would have pulled up stakes and moved my family to a safer area.

Well, the girlfriend ran. I don't know if that means she got away or it was after. The guy was 20 so it's a good bet that his kids were too young to be a threat as witnesses.

Can't you choose to not have your name released if you win the lottery?

pretty sure the law differs on this for every state.
some require the name be public record.

That's because you were raised to be civilized.
For some cultures, human life isn't inherently valuable.

Well, maybe this will make them change that stupid fricking law.
I guess they just want to prove to the public that somebody actually won.

But South Carolina is one of only six states, according to Huffington Post, which allow winners to remain anonymous: Delaware, Kansas, Maryland, North Dakota, and Ohio are the other five.

I thought all of you guys here just told me last week that you shouldn't worry about this if you won the powerball. I'm now confused
Eta: You know what, I have a sneaking suspicion there are actually waaaaaaaaay more poor people killed then rich people

Gregory is the English form of Gregorius which was from the Late Greek name Gregorios, derived from gregoros, meaning "watchful, alert".
So it's not arbitrary like Craigory.

IIRC Georgia is trying to pass a law that allows lottery winners to remain anonymous for 25% of the prize money.
