It's crushing some people I know. Some of them were the d-bags smashing the accelerator in their F-250 complete with truck nuts, hollering about oil field cash- frick those guys.
Many are my friends and neighbors who are good ol baws just trying to make it. I feel for those guys.

I don't remember being thanked for paying $4.05/gallon...............
Seriously tho, it's going to get worse before it gets better. And that's the scary part.

Oil professionals are the new teachers

How long would you say you could support your family of 4 (jk I know no one would marry you or bear your children) being out of work when no one in your industry is hiring?
Also, coming from an oilfield family and working in the industry, I still only see the bitching on here and mostly from your side

Yes. They seem entitled.
The economy changes and there are winners and losers. Buck up and find a new vocation like the rest of us do.

Then go into a different industry.

Except we didn't get summers and holidays off.
Wait I'm out of oil field as of 2:21 pm. Guess I'm on the cheap gas side now.

Spot on, Paige.
Most of the people out of work are too busy trying to find a job to bitch about it on here.

I'm not bitching about it
And after being laid off in October, I'm going back to school this spring because I don't like the volatility

Nah, you denied me once. :foreveralone:
It was posted in one of the recent oilfield threads. Apparently someones wife went on a rant about how their christmas was ruined and how she's tired of people celebrating the lower gas prices. I'll try and find it.

When the day comes that you lose your job, if you have one
I've lost a couple jobs in my life due to downsizing or economy. One of them when I was in the middle of purchasing a house and I had to back out of the purchase AND give up $1000s of dollars because of it. I know what it's like to lose a job. It SUCKS.
I'd rather see NO ONE lose a job. But know the risks you take when u pick a career path and don't be pissed at me because I'm happy with the price of gas. It's not my fault!

of that. I just see a bunch of people happy to see thousands of people out of work so they can save 20 bucks a week on gas.
What? Nobody is happy about people losing their jobs.

It was a more in general to those bitching but doing nothing about it. Not really directed to you.

Crude oil prices continue to drop. This means in the next several days, the price of gasoline at the pump will be coming down even more. While this will be good news to most of you, I would ask that you do not plaster all over Facebook how happy you are that gas prices are down. Many people in our part of the country have lost their jobs due to the oil glut created by OPEC, and this Christmas will be a very bare one for them. My son lost his job and has moved 400 miles away, with my granddaughters, in order to find work. MANY others have been even less fortunate, losing not only their jobs, but their cars, and even the very homes that they live in.
Think about it in these terms........If you are a woman, and you marry your husband at age 25. You give him 2.7 children and the very best years of your life. Then, at age 40, that rotten bastard decides to trade you in for a DIFFERENT 25 year old. Your hard work, your dedication, your youth, are spent now, and some new hottie is reaping the fruits of your ex's salary, while you are relegated to a 12 year old mini-van, running the pre-teens to soccer practice, while holding down two piece of shite jobs just to pay for a manicure once every other month.....Well, THAT is the way an oilfield man feels. He gave up many things in his life to provide fuel for the masses. He missed half of his kids ball games. He missed birthdays, church plays, and multiple Christmases, so YOU would have gas for your car, and natural gas to power the power plants that turn the lights on in your house. And now, for all his hard work and dedication, he is summarily put out to pasture because some Saudi king has all the gold plated Rolls Royces that he can drive and decides to drive the competition out of business, because it's fun to watch the mice jump when he says "cat".
So, when you save $20 at the pump this Christmas, just remember that some oilfield families won't have a damn bowl of fruit from Santa, so please, don't rub our noses in it.

Yeah. People who lose their jobs shouldn't be mad about it at all.
Don't be mad at ME is what I'm saying. I didn't cause the price of crude to drop!

But my stepdad has been out of work over a year. He doesn't whine. He's been through the 80s and knows how it goes
He's 65 with a degree in forestry from
Lsu. What does someone at retirement age do to start over?
