For convertibles yea but if you have a seat base and a latch system it's simple to install

Point is.....if in doubt there are several places that will check for free for you. Some fire stations will do this as well.

The ones that are carriers also. Never wake a sleeping baby applies here. Get the lightest one. It gets heavy quick
Also I'd get one of the stroller frames that the carrier clamps onto instead of a full stroller (which you can get later). Much less bulky. Make sure you can open and close with one hand and again the lightest possible
Much knowledge here.
We found the Chicco brand to be the most user friendly and durable. That thing survived all three of our kids, then we handed it down to a friend.
Also, buy a few extra base parts to put in each of the grandparent's vehicles....

Get a bigger vehicle, like a Deuce & a 1/2.

Go to Babies R Us and check them out even if you don't buy from there. So many differences even within the same brand.

My wife freaked out because I didn't get it inspected. I had her stand there and watch me click the latch anchors and pull it tight and she was like ok guess you can't really screw that up

You are an absolute moron if you can't install a car seat into a car with a latch system anchor
If you can't install the seat with the LATCH system, you probably f'd up by having kids.

Get an all in one and get a convertible later. We have the Britax B-safe car seat and the B.O.B. Motion Stroller stroller (car seat works with stroller). The one we have is all black and grey instead of the orange below. He's outgrown the car seat, but it was great and the stroller is awesome. Super easy and can do anything.
It's a pain to carry heavy ones, but that should be a second thought. Look at ones that are rated the "safest".

chicco keyfit 30 car seat, with 2 extra bases, 1 for each car and 1 for the grandparents.
It fits into our bumbleride stroller with the universal adapter no issues.
car seat to choose. I know our carseat choice wasn't made without factoring in compatibility with stroller.
I think cybex, nuna, and maxi cosi are highly rated and on the higher end. Chicco keyfit has great reviews and does the trick so far.
Go test them out yourself. Find out which car seat is lightest, easiest to install and remove from base, compare prices, compatibility with stroller, and decide from there.
There's no easy answer. We could tell you one brand but: - it may not work with your stroller or
- the year make and model of your car may not be compatible with the particular latch system (have to check on some vehicles if the latch will not have enough room)
-may not be in your desired price range
-etc, etc.

Make sure you have fire or police officer check it. You would be amazed how many are not strapped correctly. State police also will check it for free

Yeah people may have the seat installed correctly.....but don't have the baby properly strapped in it(chest clip isn't at armpit level of baby, etc).
