how close was he? caliber? could the bullet still have went through and killed the daughter?

I've seen plenty of shooting training designed to maximize stress and accuracy for the most part goes way way way down. It isn't mental. It's physical.

Ok, show me his training records. You can't say any of this with absolute certainty, so you're looking like a fool once again.
I don't need to see his training record to know that he has enough training to know not to aim for an arm.

And the person pointing the gun at them shouldn't be shocked if shite goes south in a hurry. Was he supposed to let this guy pull the trigger on him?
Since you're such a great armchair quarterback, let's hear how you would have handled it
I am pretty sure that you are completely misunderstanding where I am trying to go with this. I am not saying the constable did anything wrong by shooting the guy and I did not expect the constable to be able to see what he can't see. What I am saying is that he made a poor shot. As far as me I am not a cop nor a state paid person allowed to carry a firearm so if I were the one in that situation and miss it wouldn't be very surprising.

Were the walls white or yellow? How the frick do I know. I know what you know and that is the constable made a poor shot and killed someone. Take it for what it is. Not his fault but was a shitty side effect.

definitely the girl's fault
SHE DINDUNUFFIN right OT?

Yes, he will spend a long time in prison. I hope he suffers mentally for the rest of his life.

Constables are required to complete Act 49 certification and training before performing any court duties. Basic Act 49 training is provided by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD), the course is 80 hours of classroom instructions on the follow subjects: use of force, professional development, civil law, criminal law, prisoner transport, courtroom security, defensive tactics, OC and baton, mechanics of arrest, role of the constable, and crisis intervention. Constables must pass each subject by scoring at least 70% on a written exam.
Each year, Constables must take 40 hours of Continuing Education to keep their certification; this includes 20 hours Con Ed for basic certification and 20 hours Con Ed for firearms.
That is what wikipedia reports to be the required training for a Penn. Constable. If so I can imagine that will change after this story. That is not a whole lot of training for a gun toting agent, which is once again why I will say that he was under trained/prepared.

We have quite a few constables in Mississippi who've never been LEO certified

Making rent shouldn't be a problem after the wrongful death law suit.

This guy probably wasn't either since he was elected. He basically just has to complete minimal training to be allowed to carry a gun.

Sad story and yeah.. Father is completely at fault here.. Anyone thinking otherwise is fricking retarded.
But this is the OT, everyone's a Bob Munden when it comes to pistol shooting.

No just not but hell no! My point is that he hit the fricker in the arm instead of the chest. If he hits the guy in the chest the right person dies. If you are stupid enough to point a gun at a cop you deserve to die. The only thing I am trying to say is that it sucks that the constables training was not high enough for him to place a proper shot anywhere in the largest part of a persons body.
again, it's not a movie.
What do you think happened when the rifle was pointed at the Constable? He grabbed his weapon and probably moved.
At the instant he grabbed his weapon, the idiot dad probably started moving as well.
Have you ever shot a gun before?
It's not all that easy to hit someone in the chest that's 20-30 feet away, while you're shitting your pants b/c you might get shot and your target is likely moving, even if he's only moving minimally.
Go get one of those plastic air pistols and try to reenact this with a friend and see if you can hit him, much less hit him in the chest.
You can spout off training all you want. Things change when shite gets real.
And i can't emphasize enough, shooting a pistol is nothing like what you see in movies. It's really not all that easy, even for trained people to hit their target in the chest, unless that target is completely stationary poking his chest out for you and you are in a shooting position that you take at the range.

That's bullshite. I've shot plenty of defensive pistol matches and I can tell you that an adrenaline dump changes the dynamic of the situation no matter how well trained you are. So, once again, you don't know what you're talking about.

He made a less than perfect shot. He still hit the guy. For you to shite on a guy for not making a pristine shot while having a gun pointed at him shows you don't know what you're talking about.
On average, 75%-80% of shots fired by trained LEO's around the country miss their intended target. This guy is batting 1.000

Well we don't even know what would have happened if he made a "proper" shot
that was my point

sounds like a job for the Bundys

It would have had a whole lot more to travel through that is for sure.

This is all on the father for brandishing a rifle with this daughter right behind him.
He could get a felony murder charge.
Why did the constable need to knock twice though? Once the homeowner answered the first time, and slammed the door in his face, couldn't he have just nailed the notice to the door and walked off?

one of the rules of gun safety: Always be aware of what is beyond your target. Yes the father is stupid but the officer isn't completely off the hook in this situation.
Well this makes absolutely no sense. You act like the constable was shooting beer cans off of a board and killed someone.
It is a tragic situation and it is 100% on the father if the facts are true. I don't think hitting the father in the arm even changes anything if he only fired one shot. He could have missed and it still would have been 100% on the father.
