That is exactly why MT is best suited for LG. Ideal phone booth size, and athletic enough to pull on run plays and clear the edge.

Like Madden used to say- quickest way to diagnose the play is to watch the LG.
His assignment will tell you if it's long pass, screen, counter, etc

What about Teuhema

He seems to be a good blocker but he had several crucial false starts this year. Ugh!

What about Valentine? I hear he's a beast, and would have had a lot of time this year if he was eligible...

Has Hawkins announced he is going yet?

Next year's line will have a lot of young talent. I know they were very inconsistent down the stretch, but this was always going to be a transition year with 3 vets moving around and 2 freshmen starting. Grimes has set us up for the future with strong recruiting.

Clapp should make a great Center. He is certainly more naturally suited to the position than Pocic. Moving Pocic outside to Tackle is going to be a big boost for the line next year (assuming he stays, of course. He and Beckwith are so critical to LSU improving next year). We have a ton of talent and depth at the Guard spots, and Dodd has been solid as a backup Center. If we can get the other Tackle spot locked down, then next year's will be bad arse.

If Gordon gets a 6th year, that's another big boost on the outside.

No and Hawkins could/should do himself a favor and return

No, but everyone is just assuming he will go based on early draft grades from ESPN and the like. The thing is, he isn't a great Tackle anyway, especially in pass protection. He and Alexander were very disappointing late in the season.

An NFL team should do him a favor and put his arse back at Guard.

You mean Vadal?
Hawkins started at RT as R/S frosh

Yes. You are correct got those two mixed up. Vadal should definitely go back to Guard in the league. I think Hawkins is just overrated. He had his share of struggles in pass protection this year, as well.

Pocic and Weathersby/Teuhema. The other starts at guard. Tons if other options if Clapp moves to Center.

Hawkins was our best OL. No one came close.

He's a fine run blocker, but he is not great in pass protection. He and Alexander got abused all year by fast ends and OLBs. That means he is going to have a difficult adjustment to today's NFL.

Pocic is definitely more talented and more versatile than either of them. We need him to stay a hell of a lot more than Hawkins.

If Pocic returns, I bet he plays one of the two tackle spots. Valentine-Okeke and Weathersby probably duke it out for the other

I thought Hawkins and Pocic were the worst 2 lineman this year. The guard play was pretty solid no matter who was there. I mainly would say that about Pocic because of Bama and Arky performances.

Pocic is too big for center, he is too high. Allows guys to get under him.

For some reason they have this complex of playing lineman out of position, I understand cross training and all but Alexander should not be playing tackle.

Hawkins
Alexander
Clapp
Teuhema
Pocic

Would've been a much more balanced line imo. But hey what do I know

Agreed, keep the same guards and put Dodd at C OR slide Clapp to C with Brumsfield to G spot. Young, and talented grp across the front.
