Miles won't be retained without the ability to have the coaches he wants on his staff. In a real sense, Alleva will give him the rope to hang himself, with the chance to save his job.
If LSU loses 3 or 4 games, especially with some blow outs, the swell of support for Miles will erode. The thought will be "You had a reprieve to fix it and you didn't," so Alleva's path will be much easier to fire Miles. There will be no eleventh hour save.
Les gets a year to get it right or get gone. Just that.

Sit every coach down and say, we are all coaching for our jobs.
They shouldn't have to be told that. If so, and they were going about their business confident that they could be mediocre and still coach here, that's a goddamn problem.

I really thought one of the stipulations for miles returning would be to go out and hire an OC and get out of the way similar to Oklahoma.
Les Miles can hire Smacker to run the offense if he wants to.
This is Les Miles University. We love Les. We don't even have money at the university to pay the light bills, how we going to pay $30 million for a coaching change?

Is there some sort of statement from Miles or a report saying he is pushing for an extension for Cam? Just curious since I have not seen anything.
Besides, if Cam is going to leave then it won't be until after national signing day.

Besides, no OC worth a damn is going to come here after what almost happened with Miles (i.e., could be "one and done").
One that's looking for a chance to be the HC at LSU. It's a fantastic opportunity.

The offensive philosophy is the problem. I can not understand why people want Cam gone or thought his firing was some sort of a condition.
How in the hell would firing the OC at LSU help with a change of the offense philosophy? Makes no sense.
There are still only 2 options:
A. Les was give goals to achieve!
or
B. Les was told one year IF his hands are off the offense.
Lets hope it is B! Although I believe A is more likely.

because Miles and Cams offense philosophy are one and the same. That's the reason he was hired. We need an OC whose philosophy is a departure from our current philosophy.
This is Cam's offense. It's his scheme, his philosophy, his plays, his coaching, and his play calls. However, he and Miles are joined at the hip philosophically in this offense.
That's why it was important to hire a new OC who represented a departure from this philosophy.

With a great QB, the LSU offense is effective, no matter who coaches.

Most offenses excel with a great QB . Good offenses can excel and be productive with average QBs . LSUs can't.

LOL a raise?!
He should be taking a huge pay cut.
He should get the same deal Steele has. 3 years @ 1 million a year plus incentives with the Miles clause.
I don't think cam could get more than a million anywhere at this point.

You almost have it right. He should be fined for the product he produced and put on the field.

Cameron actually called some good games. We have experience at Qb now and under miles teams that has meant 1-2 loss seasons most of his tenure. This fiasco will have this team and coaches focused and imo they will be out for blood next year ago

Agreed he'll run us into the ground next year and if the boosters don't get rid of Alleva our major sports programs will be in the dark ages for a few years.
