Millennials tend to love Star Wars episodes 1, 2, and 3

simply because they were very young children when those movies were released.
To them, pod racing, Jar Jar, clones, robot armies, and alien cow riding are awesome because those movies introduced them to sophisticated science fiction.
Therefore, I would bet if you hear someone say that they loved Lucas' most recent movies that person is probably a millennial.

Millennial here and thought they were shite. Anakin's story might be the best character arc of all time and Lucas ruined it along with his legacy.
Uneducated lame-arse non fans tend to like episodes 1,2, and 3. Has nothing to do with when you were born.
But honestly, I really don't know a single person who likes 1,2, 3 so who knows who actually likes them?

I feel dumber for reading this

It is just become "cool" to shite on episodes 1-3. They are not great movies, but they are not that bad. Bad is the Incredible Hulk movies.

This thread has nothing to do with SJWs, mizzou.

I like them just fine.
I actually just said this about the prequels a little while ago in another thread:
quote:
And I'll say this about the prequels. They're good and enjoyable movies. Yes, there are parts of them that are cringeworthy and some parts or characters are annoying, but all in all they're entertaining, enjoyable, fun movies. And it's cool to see them try to set things up in the prequels that we know happen in the original series.
It's the cool thing to hate on the prequels and denounce them or whatever, but that's just stupid fanboy bullshite IMO. If you want to experience Star Wars, then you should watch them all as they were intended to be watched. Doing it in any other way/order is s disservice to your experience...and even if you want to watch them in a different order, certainly don't skip any of the movies, because if you do you won't be able to form your own opinions about how good or bad they are.
Oh, and no millennial here. I'm 36.

It is not just cool. Those are some horribly made movies on every possible level. Especially considering all the resources he had at his disposal and great material to work with.

I had a millennial tell me this. He said that he likes episodes 1, 2, and 3 because those were the first Star Wars movies he ever watched.
Later he watched the original trilogy and thought they were good but didn't like the real creature puppetry (ie. Jabba the Hut).
He said he found it distracting and dated.

I can't think of anyone on the top of my head my age that loved the prequels, at least now.

Your refined cinematic taste is rivaled only by your untouchable Microsoft paint skills. You sir are a true renaissance man.

This is such bull crap. Go watch Ange Lee's hulk movie, makes episode 1 look Oscar worthy. The first three are not good compared to the 4-6, but no where as bad as some of you make out.

Then he's lame and had really shitty parents.
Has nothing to do with being a millennial. If E 1, 2, 3 were the first that you watched then you're just a not a very legit person.
You wear pleated pants, buy buicks and think Will Smith rap is cool.

This is a dumb way to downplay people's criticism of genuinely shitty movies. It's not just cool, it's accurate and justified.

You are right. They are probably worse.

Some criticism is accurate and justified, most is over the top.

No one is defending that shite movie, but just because there are worse movies in the world, that doesn't justify the prequels existing.
And in the shitty hulk movie, they didn't destroy the credibility of the greatest movie villain of all time. So in that way, yes it's a better film.

Maybe but that's only because people were emotionally invested in the films. It stings more when these movies suck, when a hulk movie sucks it's easier to forget about.

Agreed.
I'm not in the totally unwatcheable camps because I really appreciate the Anakin storyline but they were genuinelly really shitty.
Episode 1 was "ok" simply because it was the first and had a bunch of cool new ships and Darth Maul. Plus the score was really badass. But the next two were just god awful.

The anti-cheese versions on youtube are infinitely better than the theatrical releases IMO

As a Gen Xer, I agree, but Anakin was a person who did not want to earn it the right way, he wanted a get rich quick scheme. In that he is the perfect 21st century villain. Vader is just as scary to my 9 year old today as he was to me in 1981. I know, he told me yesterday Vader and Kylo scared him. He has seen all the movies. Seeing 1-3 through the eyes of my boys tells me my opinion of 1-3 being so horrible is probably jaded.
