ESPN still occasionally runs footage of a fight between the NLU and Northwestern State mascots from about 25 years ago. Both guys in full costume going at it behind one of the end zones in the NLU stadium. The fight just went on and on without a single person lifting a finger to stop it.

The Blount punch was especially memorable because it happened on a day where they were trying to promote sportsmanship or some shite like that. I remember the entire teams made some sort of pre-game gesture of sportsmanship then boom! Flush that shite right down the toilet postgame.

My dad (LSU football 64-67), told me a story about Trey Prather. Back then they still had freshman teams. Anyway, they signed up to play Mexico City University in football.

The Tigers were beating the shite out of them. And Trey was the FG holder. Every time they kicked an extra point, the Mexico DE would rough the shite out of Prather. So after about five times, Tommy had enough of it and socked the guy setting off a stadium emptying brawl.

Well, they finally got crowd off the field and resumed the game. LSU let them score to appease them a little.

Trey Prather was a big time QB recruit from Woodlawn. He got kicked out off LSU for grades (and drinking). Was drafted and later KIA in Viet Nam. IIRC, his dismissal and death set off about a two decade recruiting drought for LSU in Shreveport.
