Top 5 ?

Top 10?

Trying to see why any head coach available out there would come to BR over Austin or Los Angeles.

And if you could find that person can LSU afford to pay double Les Miles deal?

I say LSU is maybe Top 10. Def not top 5

Top 5. We're in the most talent rich per capita state in the country, and we have it all to ourselves.

I don't care how much money Texas has, and don't care where SC is located. We have what those other teams don't.

Definitely.

Debatable.

But in today's game, being a top 5 program isn't worth relocating to if you have a nice gig paying you $3-4M. It's why it's hard to hire Patterson from TCU despite not being a top program.

Top 15 at a push

You're absolutely nuts if you think LSU is top 10.

People put way too much emphasis on "ranking" college football jobs. Tell that to coaches that go to schools like TCU or Baylor and are completely outdoing Texas. Look at Miami. 20 years ago that was a top 10 job and may have at one point been a top 5 job. Teams feared and wanted to be them. Now, it's barely in the "top 25" of jobs. Get the right hire and any program can have top 5 success.

What happened to all the people saying LSU is a top 5 school program in and year out because of Miles. Now, we have become a top 15 program and nobody wants to come here. Are we still a top 5 program with Miles? If not, then why did you change your tune to top 15?

Coaches would definitely prefer to take the open USC (Los Angeles) job and soon-to-be-open UTex job over LSU any day (UTex can easily outbid LSU for a coach). Miami has had more success than LSU in recent decades but has a much smaller budget and worse facilities than LSU, so I think LSU would be a little ahead of them in the coaching search, even though they have the huge Miami market to recruit from. Still, that means that LSU would only get the third best coach available this year, behind USC and UTex. And if Georgia pressures Richt out, then they also will compete with LSU, as they have the Atlanta talent pool to attract a top-notch coach. The city of Atlanta alone has a million more people to recruit from than the entire state of Louisiana has.

Top 10-15. Plenty good enough to win a NC under the right circumstances

Los Angeles? You are crazy if you think Los Angeles is a better place to coach college football than LSU.

Easily a top 10 program
