New Orleans seems to have a much higher contingency of animalistic killers who have as little respect for the lives of themselves as they do their victims. Seems they all just expect to be locked up or dead by 18 anyway. Scary (and sad).
Will be in New Orleans tomorrow
I go there a lot and when I do I think about gazelles. You just play sheer number game and hope if crazy man comes through they will get someone else. Just in case someone doesn't understand my dumb analogy, a gazelle hopes lion goes after another gazelle and not them. Ugh

Aren't you also African American?

you probably have a different definition of "bad" neighborhood than I do...
Seriously. Virden Dition, Georgetown, Queens, WestSide, belvadere, and south side combined don't have shite on Orange Mound alone. Jackson has a lot of pretend/play gangsters. Memphis has real deal killers.

Memphis is more dangerous but is otherwise a better city. There are much better suburbs in Memphis, including Germantown and Collierville where some friends of mine live. Lots of the original FedEx employees and founders live out there. Great public and private schools in those suburbs.
Jackson has a lot of issues but Madison is nice. I'm not sure what industry exists in Jackson but if I had to move there, I'd probably live in Madison.

Jackson in the mid-90's was pretty fricking terrifying. It seems to have gotten much milder in recent years. Not sure if the numbers back that up.
I still wouldn't want to break down on Gallitin St.

No industry in Jackson really. The Nissan plant and Comcast are about the only things the Jackson area has going for it.

Murder rate is pretty high in both towns though.

One of Jackson's big problems is that they don't keep criminals in jail. Hell, a pregnant chick murdered an old man for a Buick and a few hundred dollars and a judge gave her a $1,000 bond.
The poster that said Jackson had a lot of pretend gangsters is spot on. A lot of Jacksons problem is tied to repeat offenders.

I've lived in both and both are perfectly fine as long as you aren't looking for trouble. Knowing where you are and being vigilant about your surroundings prevents a ton of crime.
Is Orange Mound unsafe? Absolutely. Have I ever been in Orange Mound? No, because I'm not a moron. To be honest I've felt more unsafe in areas of NOLA than I ever felt in Memphis or Jackson. NOLA is just an older town where I feel like you have to go through some rough parts to go where you want to go.

Nissan plant is in Madison County. State government is the only thing that Jackson has going for it.

Madison had its first murder in its history this year. A college professor got killed by his gay lover.

West Memphis is worse than Memphis

And south memphis. And north menphis...

So let me get this straight: you're not denying seeming like the type that puts TP on the toilet before you take a piss?

Actually no, he wasn't killed by a thug in a home robbery.
It was a gay professor who picked this guy up, they went at it a few times. Then he killed the professor and stole his car.
He was out on bond. armed robbery or carjacking, and his case had been continued a bunch of times. And he was from Jackson.

Sorry. I missed all of that. Should have read more on JJ.
