And it looks like Jackson is on pace to surpass 2014's totals.

Actually that was the 2014 total at this time of year. So it looks like its on pace to be lower than last year.

Why would I spend any time on some random unjustified meat head jock insult from someone I've never met?

Lived near Eastover for a year. In that time, two houses were broken into and people were shot. Another house was broken into and they tied up some guy and just left him there. It doesn't really matter where you live in Jackson, you aren't safe from crime.

Not long after I moved, a guy was kidnapped about a block from where I lived.

I live here, in the heart of the city. It's not dangerous. You don't walk around in the city and feel scared. You can drive through any neighborhood in Jackson and not feel as if someone is going to carjack you at a red light.

I think Memphis is more dangerous. It has a serous gang and drug problem...not to mention random acts of violence.

I lived in the Memphis area for 4 years (Memphis city and eventually a suburb "out east"). I know the city is dangerous and even some of my friends from New Orleans were a bit reluctant to go there. Some of my in-laws made a wrong turn and got a little spooked (and they are from Baltimore). I guess I kind of just got used to knowing where I was safe and where I wasn't. I became very familiar with the area.

After having moved to Pittsburgh, I don't miss worrying about my wife working night shifts at an ER in downtown Memphis. I don't miss Tornado season there and I don't miss the hot summers.

What I do miss about Memphis is the food and the people. It's a friendly town and the people who grew up there have no illusions about the problems Memphis has. The mid town area (especially around Overton Square) has turned into a great community with a lot of entertainment and dining options. Go east on Poplar, and you pass Germantown and Collierville. Both of them are posh suburbs that has everything you could possibly need, and I felt spoiled after we moved there from Memphis. If I were to move back to the Memphis metro, I'd definitely go back to that area.

I lived there for about 20 years and go back regularly still. You don't "walk around" anywhere in Jackson unless you work downtown during the day. You're crazy if you think Jackson isn't dangerous.

Not familiar with Jackson, but back in '08 I had to go to the MS Dept of Insurance building downtown for a meeting.

After the meeting I somehow went west of there a little ways and soon was in a very rough looking area. I got the hell out of there and was petrified having to wait out a couple of red lights. If there wasn't cars in front of me at the lights I would have ran them.
