Which between these two is more dangerous? My vote is for Jackson, but they are both terrifying urban hellscapes.

NOLA>Jackson>Memphis in terms of crime.

Memphis and it's really not even close. Jackson doesn't have a single 'bad' neighborhood.

I've stayed in Jackson for work and I've only driven through Memphis. But from what I saw, I was glad I wasn't getting out of my car.

Memphis is a lot like NOLA in terms of crime, as long as you are in and around the affluent, touristy, or business areas you're fine. Jackson is a ticking time bomb between 220 and I-55 north of I-20. Something like 90% of all crime in Jackson metro occurs in this corridor, unfortunately this is the corp limit for Jackson.

ETA: I found a map to illustrate.
