Against Florida, Miles called timeout twice. . .

with under a minute to half, with a lead, from his own territory, to run aggressive extra plays, rather than run it up the middle and end the half. Very nice to see.
That we scored, and it ended up being the difference in the game, is just icing.

Did you just reply to your own post?

I'm pretty sure the penalty had a lot to do with it

It looked like the original plan was to run the clock out, but the success of the plays changed it to trying to get into field goal range. That's how "running the clock out" should work. Plan for safe, be ready to modify the plan if it's called for.

Someone mentioned it earlier, but Fournette up the middle to start the drive with several plays was actually a successful 2-minute drill.

Very true. The aggressive play calling during the 2nd quarter was a thing of beauty, and very unlike him. However, what was like him was to abandon said aggressive plays in favor of a very conservative offensive approach in the 3rd quarter. This led to 3 straight 3 and outs to open the 3rd quarter and allowed Florida to claw their way back into the game. The Les Miles from the 2nd quarter was fantastic. The Miles from the 3rd quarter was excruciating.

They trust Harris, great to see. He deserves it.

thats what made the play calling in the second half a little confusing...so aggressive in the second quarter

Yeah, bc Miles never rolls the dice

While he's a dice roller historically, the knock on Les of late has been his reversion to Meechigan-style hold-the-lead offensive philosophy. Have you been on this board this year?
Read the "fake field goal play makes me happy" thread to see how nice it is to see that side of Les again after so long a hiatus.
But my comment wasn't about "taking chances". Just straight-forward aggressive playcalling and not "playing not to lose".

I get so amused when I see this. He was trying to win the damn game. He had a lead and a great OL and all-time great RB. I don't see the problem in that he thought he could take this safer approach and be successful. If you recall, as well, there were some execution issues on 2nd down that hurt us badly...or his plan may have worked...not to mention he did throw it a few times unsuccessfully.
I understand you guys like the Baylor approach though.

i didnt say i had a problem with it dumbass i said it was a little confusing because he is never that aggressive especially not for the entire quarter or calling timeouts like hes sean payton, just not usually his style

I'm fairly certain there were 9 offensive plays in the 3rd quarter, 5 runs and 4 passes, or very close to those numbers.
I know it's a popular opinion, but I'm not sure what happened in the 3rd was because LSU "went conservative".
