You could change out "Spurrier" with any coach in the history of college football and I would answer Snyder every single time.

i'm not far from agreeing with that ... he is surrounded by oklahoma, nebraska, mizzou, and colorado ... gets a few from texas, but that's his region for recruiting, and there ain't much there ... and he competes with the big boys ... and beats em sometimes ... manhattan is 56000 ... in the middle of kansas ... ain't even got an interstate going through there ...

The only reason that town is as big as it is is because of Snyder. They named the damn highway from I-70 to the city limits after him.

I will say this though, Manhattan doesn't get enough credit for being a cool college town. I had a lot of fun while I was there.

Besides the culture of losing he inherited, K State arguably had the most hopeless recruiting situation in the nation in the 1980s. Not that Kansas has ever been shite in football, but they are the prestige school in the state and K State was the little brother, and there aren't many big recruits in Kansas to begin with. They had Oklahoma at their peak to the South and Nebraska at their peak to the North, and a bunch of mountains to the West. They did what they had to do and he did it.
