Now we're going to bitch about the lack of ticket sales for a game that we didn't even know was going to take place less than 24 hours ago??

Why don't we hold our water for a tad.

You just wait until the real fans get to buy tickets. I expect a full capacity sellout by 7pm

I cant believe it would cost a couple $150 on tickets alone to see a damn college football game.

Yeap, I didnt even pay that much to go see English Premier League games. They complain about the prices all the time and I told them how much College Football was and thought we were mad.

The diehards in the South endzone show up every week, and most of them stay. But the people between the 20's on both sides of the stadium just don't care to be at the games more than once or twice a season.

It's shocking how true this is. I'm in a suite and one of our partners comes to ZERO games a year. He simply gives his tickets away to friends or clients. My wife hasn't attended more than two games a year in the last five years.

Having the means and the motivation (or the luck) to acquire the best seats absolutely does not correlate with the passion or desire to be in attendance. In fact it seems negatively correlated.

Having said that, Tiger Stadium still takes a back seat to no one. Unless maybe you're comparing it to another era or set of games in Tiger Stadium.

I have a feeling next Saturday night vs Florida will be a "big game" crowd.

Having new people every week in prime seats who really don't have much invested into the Tigers is why so many leave at halftime now or don't get that into the game.

You're making a big assumption here. And what does not have "much invested into the Tigers" even mean? Because they might night be able to afford season tickets they're somewhat less enthusiastic? They may be as "invested" as anyone who is there on a regular basis. In fact they may be more enthusiastic because they don't have the chance to attend as regularly.
There are quite a out of state few season ticket holders that don't come to every McNeese or Eastern Michigan game. Who can blame them? They already pay enough to secure the tickets and support the program without making a trip to Baton Rouge for a non competitive game. If they give the tickets away to someone else who wants them, what's it to you?

Dude, if you're in a suite, you're not much different than "the people between the 20"s".

It means that you are really excited when they win, and are really disappointed when they lose.

Look around the stadium in the second half of any game not against a top 10 opponent. The thinnest areas are the top of the student section and the East and West sidelines. That's not an opinion, that's years of observations.

I'm strictly commenting on those that actually show up to the games and leave at halftime or shortly thereafter.

So all the people that use someone else's tickets don't feel this way?

The one's that leave at halftime don't.

Don't get me wrong, I understand there are all types of good Tiger fans. I just don't count those leave at halftime in that group.

Im one of those with SEZ season tickets and live in Houston. I make all of the conference games and go to the non-conference road/neutral and bowl games. I don't travel for the rent a wins, but I give them to Tiger fans who can't afford to go to make sure I do my part to help keep Tiger Stadium full.

And yes, I made changes to be able to come to Baton Rouge tomorrow since this is a conference game and hustle back on Sunday for the Astros game.

Here's the issue. The better seats in TS are held by older fans or companies. Many cant or don't have the passion but they view their seats as valuable and Dont want to just forfeit them. LSU in their lack of wisdom doesn't allow transfer of tic rights so all too often those seats don't get used. Do like the saints do and allow fans to buy those choice tics. Less passionate fans will sell the rights to more passionate fans.

Interesting thing I found looking up something else. Check out these attendance figures for 1993.

Capacity was 78,000

Auburn-71,936
Florida-60,060
Ole Piss-61,470
Tulane-58,190
Arky-54,239

Perhaps the good old days are not quite as good as we might think.

I know the answer is that the team was terrible then, but if the fans were so much better, where were they?

Think about it. We are at 102,000 now.

It's pretty stupid for sure. Hell, add a 500 transfer fee

How many fans would show up today if the team on the field was of the same quality as that 1993 team?
