It's because he's not wearing a flatbill. Golf gods are rewarding him properly.

I just found out about it today when our site rep asked me if I wanted to play. Love those short notice deals.

That was one of the weirdest rulings I've ever seen.

What happened exactly? I have the volume turned down because the wife was asleep. I know they were deemed to lose the hole twice, but what caused this.

Phil changed balls before he teed off, and was told that disqualified him from the hole. In reality, he could still play the hole, but afterward the US team was going to be docked one hole. He picked up his ball, and then they lost the hole, so they went from AS to 2 down in the span of 1 hole.

We're really struggling right now.

Basically Phil accidentally switched balls, they told him he was disqualified from hole, he picks up and doesn't play, Zach finishes and international wins hole. US is assessed 1 up penalty regardless.

Turns out Phil could have continued playing hole because penalty was being assessed regardless (which the ref didn't tell him until after hole was finished and they were at next tee)

Is a player not allowed to change balks between holes? Did he simply not declare the ball change to the other team?

So do you go 2 or 1 down in count for the match?

You can't switch model balls. He used a different model of Calloway. You have to stay with the same model. Can't switch from provx to prov. That's an adjustment penalty. Not a Dq from the hole. They told him to pick up his ball when he should have played it with no penalty. Except the adjustment.

And that's how you say f u officials.

My question still is

Do you lose 2 holes on a hole or just that hole?

Lose the hole is 1 down + Penalty 1down

Or

Just 1 down for the penalty

I'm confused but haven't watched coverage yet.

They lost the hole due to getting beat. They also have a penalty of an adjustment. So a two hole swing.
