Facts are, they have screwed up Lex every time they have tried to bring him to the big screen.
I thought Gene Hackman was incredible as Lex Luthor in Superman and Superman II.
I couldn't care less how they portray the character as I haven't read a Superman comic aside from The Death of Superman. So long as I can dig the performance from the actor playing him (be that Gene Hackman, Kevin Spacey, or Jesse Eisenberg) I will be happy.

If this version of Luthor becomes popular and subsequently casts vegans as untrustworthy, I'm all for it.

Lex isn't a vegan. He eats at a Vegan food truck.
He's supposed to appear to be socially conscious and run a Google or Facebook type hipster tech douche company.

Exactly, just like many very powerful people do at first before showing their true nature

Now let me say that I feel like the actors who have played Lex have did a fantastic job with what they have been given. But the character has never been done justice to me.

Read the Luthor answers in that interview in the voice of Michael Rosenbaum or Clancy Brown. It works perfectly.

Honestly what I got from that is that Jesse Eisenberg is a diversion. You'll notice he is Lex Luthor Jr and Lex Sr has been "dead" since 2000.
I would not be shocked at all of the big twist is that Lex Sr is still alive and he is the real, ruthless Lex we all know.

I'm back and forth on this version of Luthor. I do like the idea. But he looks terrible.

Why couldn't they make him more Elon Musk and less Zuckerberg?

That would have made billions.

Can't imagine that sentence coming out of Clancy Brown's mouth.
