Allowing 23 yards per punt return, obvious,y worst in conference; and nobody has even taken one to the house on us

Not as terrible kickoff return stats against us but still near bottom of conference, time to put Gamble out there to kick it through the endzone at least.

Thank God Tre White returned that 1 punt for a TD:

Keehn has been one of the more frustrating players this year

Our special teams have looked very shaky - just a matter of time before someone breaks at least one for a touchdown. We've gone a long way from the days when special teams were a weapon for us. Need to get it fixed!!

It's only a matter of time. I think this may cost us a close game this year

Special teams has been awful. The blocking shield on punts is almost non existent and it's causing Keehn to suck kangaroo nads.

It's going to happen soon enough. It used to be that you could expect at least one shank a game, but the rest of the punts would be pretty good. Now we're seeing one shank AND 50 yard punts with 2.0 seconds of hang time.

I have no idea why LSU gives out scholarships to place kickers. Josh Jasper was the last scholarship kicker to be LSU's primary place kicker. He was signed in '07. Since then LSU has signed several kickers, none of which have had any impact. They've had good success with walk-on's. Why waste the scholarship?

Still, part of me thinks that LSU doesn't want touchbacks. Maybe it's just me, be it seems like the objective on kickoffs is to make the return man field the ball in the corner of the field somewhere inside the 5. Maybe LSU feels they have good enough ST to keep the returner from reaching the 20? Seems like an unnecessary risk to me.

Did anyone watch the 1st extra point of the game? LSU lined up #44 on the left side of the blocking formation and on the snap of the ball had him immediately "pull" all the way to the opposite side to block a would be rusher. Maybe it was a mistake on #44's part, but I don't think I've ever seen that happen. Are they trying to set up a fake later on? Seems like you're playing with fire by making a guy come all the way across the field to block a rusher.

Pevetp is the worst coach on the team. Why he was allowed to come back is beyond me.

Thanks. I'm bookmarking this for the next time some idiot tries to defend Peveto's shitty coaching.

Obviously, LSU needs co-special teams coaches to fix this.

That 22 yard field goal was ugly. I don't know how it wasn't blocked. Domingues 30 yarders have looked solid, but his trajectory is so inconsistent. I still haven't heard a straight answer as to what's up with Dellahousaye.

I used to feel the odds of creating a turnover on a kickoff were much greater than the opponent breaking one. Not anymore.

we need to find a punter. our aussi sucks. he is inconsistent and shanks a lot of punts. this is going to bite us in the arse this year. I say fire him. get rid of the mofo

If we lose a close game this year then it will likely be because of special teams. Sure, you can always find some other play to blame it on; the fumble or the holding the call that got the TD called back, etc. However, hopefully those things are not issues that have plagued your team all year long. I look to issues that have been there every game and our special teams is the biggest stand out. I would also say costly penalties but the jury is out on whether that is a team issue or ref crew issue, we certainly didn't have those kinds of penalties in our one game without Ritter. Anyway, the shanked punts and horrible return coverage is killing us. We can not allow good or great teams to consistently start at the 30-40 yard line and expect to win a game. We have to bury them deep and let our defense wear them down.

Let's fix what we can fix.. Surely if we have a kicker who can put the kickoffs in out the end zone that would be a start.. but maybe we don't. Thought Gamble had a booming leg? But obviously the coaches know better and absolutely have their reasons.. I hope they can get better on coverage.
