A strong forward who can sink his free throws is known as a "Monet".

I played baseball from 5 years old to 18 years old and I pitched for nine of those years and I had never heard of that term. My 12 year old son played on a team last year and his coach was calling him "Rembrandt" and I Swear to God I thought he was talking about a toothpaste or something. I was thinking maybe it's because he smiles a lot. Didn't get it until I saw that commercial. And yes, the guy who called him that was a total douche.

it doesn't make sense because the corners are consistently the worst aspects of Rembrandt’s paintings.

I play a good bit of poker; have for years. I don't think it is a term used much outside my Geographic area but in my poker circles it's common to hear a player that pulls a useless card refer to it as a Rembrandt. As in "look at that Rembrandt sumbitch." while flipping the card up and away in disgust.

Then again that may be common...I don't know.

I'm known as a Rembrandt because I paint the terlit when I take a chud.

Now you're just trying to sweet-talk everyone.

When you think about it, Glavin, Maddoux, and Avery were Rembrandts too.

Drives me crazy when my wife "paints the corner" too.

I've heard of it. I know Bill "Spaceman" Lee stated in his book, not all factual, that Dennis Eckersley used to call him Sherwin-Williams. Lee kvetched about not being called Rembrandt or Monet, or something like that.

I played baseball for my entire youth (through HS) and never once heard a pitcher described as that.

Maybe your team just had bad pitchers?

Al Michaels referred to Joe Montana as "Rembrandt back to pass" on MNF back in the day.
