First. I don't personally care about yardage, play calling, passing or running emphasis. I appreciate wins. Don't care if it comes the prettiest way or the ugliest. But seems to be a lot of.. Backseat coaching.

Through three games LSU is averaging 101 yards through the air and 315 yards on the ground per game. What do YOU individually think about if the stats were flipped? Would YOU be complaining that we weren't giving LF the ball enough even though we were apparently sailing bombs? Why is it so much more important to take rushing yards and convert them to passing yards?

Rushing plays have negative results such as TFL or no gains. Passing plays have incompletions. Both momentum and drive killers. Why is emphasis on type of yardage more important to you? I want YOUR opinion on the topic whether for or against.

Our RB is better than the QB and the WRs catching. Running the football is LSU's identity so why go air raid? Running is what wins in the SEC by wearing down the defense. Physical run games executed at high levels with the option of using play action is the most difficult offense to stop.

In all honesty I'm happy with the team's progression and it's hard to argue with Fournette's home run ability on seemingly any carry he gets, but I'd like to see our stable of wide receivers get more in-game reps. On those 3rd and longs I'd like to feel more confident that we can convert.

Other than that, feed the beast.

we are blessed to be able to manhandle opposing teams and rush so effectively.

all i ask is that when they do load up and we are so predictable it is causing 3 and outs that we would open it up and get more creative.. via mixing it up such as passing.. like one 1st or 2nd down.. and medium yardage passing..

that's all. i don't care about stats in terms of how many passes attempted or yardage thrown for.. what i care about is seeing our offense flourish and we continue producing touchdowns like i know LSU is capable of every time they touch the ball.. so much talent on O. no reason not to have confidence in our talent and abilities.

You do realize it isn't just posters on TD that say we need to be a more complete team to beat the teams we play down the road right? It has always been a knock on us that we have trouble moving the ball when Bama or a team like ole miss stop our run.

I think the problem is, there could come a game or two where LF is stopped. We will have to throw to win. Our D just gave up 24pts to a 5th string QB. We have to develop some kind of passing game in order to survive any shoot out. I though BH threw the ball well Saturday. We , at some point, will need a 270yd passing game.

It isn't about yardage. It's about being able to show balance whenever the run game is finally stifled.

only two things matter in football

points scored
points scored by the opponent.

Now other stats are important, and they may reflect how much or how little each of the stats above occurs, but how ever you get more points scored, and less points scored by your opponent is what you must push for.

LSU could beat EMU 60-0 have 450 rushing yards, LF with 5 TDs and 350 yards. Our passing will only have 150 with 3 TDs. We will still complain we aren't passing the ball enough.

I'm pleased with our offense so far. We are a run first team and having been running the ball at will so can't see why anyone has an issue with our offense. As long as we are winning games and putting together good drives and aren't going three and out every series, I'm happy. I'll take 400-500 yards of offense all day, I don't care how we get it as long as we get it.

Would I like to see us air it out some against weaker opponents? Sure, but just to work on that area of our game as it needs the most work and we are going to need to be able to throw the ball later on down the road.

I think LSU under the leadership of Miles, Cameron and Steele are right where they need to be. The programs grows stronger with greater potential each week.

Its not just about running or passing. Its about being balanced. Harris has a gun but LM doesnt let him use it. LF7 is a beast and when he has almost 200 yds in the first half, then that should REALLY open up the play action. Being one dimensional will only get you so far. What happens when LSU runs into the team that stacks the box and all the sudden LF is held to less than 100yds? Every team out there pretty much realizes LSU is not a passing threat.

The OP's post is the exact misconception people on this board have. It's not that people like passing yards more than rushing. Good lord that's just stupid. It's that we run an extremely predictable offensive scheme and you better believe that better coaches with good personnel are going to slow down our running game. That may be Florida, Ole Miss, Bama, Georgia if we get there etc. There is likely going to be a game or two this year when we will need to pass the ball to win and right now we don't look capable of doing so. That is all.

I think the fear regarding the lack of balance is that if a team like Alabama with a vicious front 7 is able to contain our running game we will need to be able to pass. In years past our passing game was much better by the time November rolled around so I am not worried just yet. We have seen improvement week by week. Florida will tell us a lot about our offense imo...

While we haven't run into anyone that has stopped us yet, what happens when we do? Ole Miss, Bama, Georgia and anyone talented enough to make it to the final four are not going to let us just line up and run. There has to be a semblance of a passing game to make the opposing team respect it or it will be more of the same... line up and run into a stacked box for short gains (and loses). Of course our receivers dropping the ball isn't going to help the situation but if we get too one dimensional against a good team, it will cost us in the long run. Anyone that isn't concerned that our pass offense looked the way it did against the 115th ranked pass defense is just fooling themselves. Fournette is a specimen no doubt... but Harris is going to have to help out with his arm (and our receivers hang onto the ball) when we go against other elite teams. JMHO and

imo, the answer is common sense. running teams win championships. BUT, they need a passing game to convert 3rd and longs to keep the drives going (other reasons too).

there is a segment of posters on here that obviously think PASSING YARDS is the most important stat there is even tho there is obvious proof available to counter that argument. these folks will not quit their whining until LSU adopts a pass happy, multiple receiver game that minimizes the run game. many teams do this and look really good. Baylor gave up over 50 points this wk-end and still won their game. this segment would have loved that kind of game.

why does this segment value passing yardage so much? my theory is that they grew up with video football and that's what they call exciting. kinda like winning baseball teams need excellent pitching some fans want teams that knock a lot of taters and score lots of runs.

theory over; it is a FACT that being able to run the ball and control the clock are instrumental in winning championships.

Fournette is a rare athlete. He's a pro in a collegian's body.

Taking too many opportunities away from him, just for the sake of "balance," would be asinine.

He has proved he can carry the load.

I love waiting to see LF break one on any play he is in on. Passing is great and flashy, but the way LF is rolling, I wouldn't change it for the world.

There are essentially three things that can happen on a pass play and two of them are bad. Run the ball if you can, play it safe and win the game. Flashy, throw first offenses havent really worked out real well for the Oregon/TCU/Baylor contingent has it? However, the Alabama/Ohio State/ Florida/ LSU, ground and pound and throw when needed seems to be doing a good job at bringing home crystal!
