That's 1 game, but I guess it is fair since OP thinkswl we should get rid of Brees based on 2 games

We have 12 rookies and $42 million in dead money, but let's get rid of our HoF QB

Those things grow on trees b/c a few teams did it over 20 years

Drew Brees gives this team the best chance to win other than Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers or Andrew Luck. I ride this wagon until the arms fall off. Or something.

someone should put together a list of all the QBs drafted or signed since Drew came to town where the teams that drafted them were hoping they would be their next franchise QB, and then we can all look at the list and decide if that's a lottery we're excited about playing right now.

No way Payton is fired, but he needs someone to light a fire under his arse. If he was somehow fired, I know exactly who I would want to replace him and he's likely going to be fired because he's not taking his team to a Super Bowl.

Who knows if the Colts made the right choice, but they were also gifted a lock

Favre retired and they had Aaron rodgers. They were in a similar situation to us and then made the nfccg With him.

Montana also did pretty well with KC, Manning also brought the Broncos to the Super Bowl. As you mentioned, Favre with the Vikes in 2009. Getting rid of a good player early is simply a risk/reward assessment, for the Saints its a higher risk than reward IMO. We have no indication what Grayson is capable of.

Every one of these "professional" sports writers like to use anecdotal evidence too.

It's not even Brees' fault IMO. It's the lack of talent at WR and terrible, uninspired playcalling by Payton.

Praying for LaQuan Treadwell and Nelson Spruce in the draft.

Yup. I always prayed we'd follow the Green Bay Packers model but sadly it's way too late for that.

Which QB did you think we should have taken?

So we should have taken Wilson in 2012 with our 2nd round pick (that we didnt have) after Drew's best season? He signed a 5 year contract that offseason

He was taken in the 3rd round, and we didn't have a 1st or 2nd pick

Another brilliant suggestion

The model being to hope a stud QB falls into your lap late in the 1st round? Half the franchises in the league are in dire need of a true franchise QB. We have one that prob still has a few more years in the tank. The problem has been our front office guaranteeing $ to a bunch of bums unlike the patriots who are only really loyal to a few guys (the rest are expendable).

good anecdotal evidence ... the outlier

Considering that there are only 30 Super Bowl winning QBs (at quick glance) I think any QB would be the outlier.

You really are clueless. The Packers would have never made ridiculous signings like Byrd in free agency. They'd have never overpaid to keep guys like Junior Gallette, they'd have figured out ways to acquire more 2nd-4th round draft picks and would keep their roster full with cheap young talent. They only free agency signings they make are 2nd tier players or bargains like Julius Peppers.

Bad example. There have been several times when a team signed what appeared to be a good contract just for the player to turn around and completely change after the fact. The Saints were just one of the few to just simply cut ties with him shortly thereafter.

You guys are obsessed with the QB. Sure it's important but there's a lot more to the Packers (and St Louis Cardinals, and San Antonio Spurs for that matter) strategy than "QB QB QB".

Great franchises in every sport stockpile cheap young talent and draft wisely. They don't break the bank for any position save for QB and maybe one anchor player on defense (CB, LB). They find bargains all over the place. Things the Saints USED TO DO but for some reason stopped doing in 2010 and 2011 and have gotten more and more retarded about since.

Loomis and Payton closed this window on their own through shitty cap and roster management.

Well you could be like the Rant and name completely unrealistic options to replace Miles after he has a sloppy game.
