Yep. The only slight detraction is his singing voice just isn't that interesting.
Janis' Me and Bobby McGee is my alltime favorite song.
I have an album where it's just Willie singing Kris and it's great. Help Me Make it Through the Night is great.
I love Joan Osborne's live version from the Opry of Please don't tell me how the story ends

Their parts in the Highwayman song:
Waylon
Willie
Kris
Cash (His part makes no fricking sense, a "starship" WTF)
Johnny's part is the best part of the song imo. Obviously referencing the future with the starship line. But after that he pretty much sums up the entire theme of the song.

But I will remain

Also, Johnny is on a bunch of other songs, not just the title track.
My favorite one away from the title track is actually the ultra-obscure "Jim, I wore a tie today". Johnny's part on that one is awesome.

What's the one that Johnny Rodriguez sings on? Is that Desperadoes? That's the same Rodriguez from Coe's "long haired redneck".

Kris' voice is mediocre, but I love the way performs his songs. It feels authentic as compared to many covers by others.
Glad he's getting props in this thread, he might be my favorite human being of all time, even if he might be a little whacko with his liberal beliefs.

When he sings 'Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down" or 'The Pilgrim', it sounds like he's been there. I like the grit in his voice.

Don't want to do it, because I'd have to put someone last.
Willie
Cash
Kris
Waylon
I always though kris' Sunday morning coming down was better than cashs. Not the best traditional voice, but an awesome country voice. Sounded more authentic.

Willie, Waylon, kris, cash
No disrespect meant to the man in black. But Kris is likely the best writer of the 4, which put him over Cash for me.
Waylon is my favorite individually, but my respect for Willie knows no bounds.

That's Deportee, the one Johnny Rodriguez signs on.

Speaking of Coe, that's probably one of my favorite DAC songs, due to the obscure references. He had several songs like that, where you could tell he was slightly bitter about not being referenced with the likes of Waylon and Willie

That's a tough one. All of them are great. Personally, I rank them as:
Willie Nelson: One of my favorites of any genre. Great songwriter and a unique singing style. He wrote and performed some of the saddest songs I've ever heard.
Johnny Cash: The most iconic of the four.
Kris Kristofferson: Fantastic writer and a solid singer.
Waylon Jennings: Fantastic singer and a solid writer. It always blows my mind that he was supposed to be on the flight where Buddy Holly and the Big Bopper died.
