I think Eli deserves quite a bit less than what Philip Rivers got, much less become the highest paid player.

Eli Manning has led the league in INTs 3 times with 20, 25, and 27 INTs(7 seasons with at least 15 INTs) and has a career passer rating of 82.4. Giants record in games Eli has started: 91-76.

Philip Rives has only led the league in INTs once with 18 (with only 4 seasons of 15 or more INTs) and a passer rating of 95.7. Chargers record in games Rivers has started: 88-56.

So you're saying the Super Bowl MVP wasn't the main reason the Giants won those two Super Bowls? Yeah. I'm the dumb one.

Take off the shades Dr. Jones. They eeked into the playoffs both years and there is no doubt it was because of the defense. Eli is not considered an elite qb because he's not.

If Eli becomes the highest paid player in the league, it would be similar to Kobe making as much money as he does now, except worse because Eli hasn't done nearly as much for the Giants as Kobe has done for the Lakers. It would just put his team in a much worse spot with a QB who isn't even a top 10 QB in the league any more taking up that much of the salary cap.

Was Andre Iguadola* REALLY the reason the Warriors won the Finals? He deserved MVP and played great, but Steph and co. took the majority of the load much the same way the Giants defense did.

By your reasoning, Andre, who's in about the same point of his career as Eli, should be able to renegotiate his contract to get paid significantly more.

Why shouldn't he be? He has accomplished more than any quarterback not named Peyton Manning or Tom Brady in the league.

A) The NFL is pretty good about not paying for past performance.

B) Especially in 2007, his defensive line dragged him to a SB.

In the postseason though he completed 60.5% of his passes, threw 6 touchdowns (vs 1 INT) and had a 95.7 quarterback rating... so he stepped up that postseason

I'd say the circus catch has more to do with them winning the first than anything Eli did.

bullshite. Tyree doesn't come up with one of the most ridiculous catches ever, and no MVP for Manning that SuperBowl. You're really embarrassing yourself in this thread.

This isn't really much of a story about Eli Manning and his place in the hierarchy of NFL QBs, it's just Eli's agent doing his job.

and Brady, Manning, Brees, Rodgers, etc didn't have help along the way? They were not a one man show either, it took a team effort with each of them as well.
In both Super Bowl runs, Eli was a catalyst for the team and performed extremely well. without him the Giants probably don't advance to the Super Bowl or win.
