I never understood the fascination with Darth Maul. I mean he looked cool and was played by a good martial arts actor, but his parts in the movie sucked. He just appeared behind Palpatine, then killed Qui-jon and then got chopped in half.
Not much to him, no complexity, no story.

To me that was the appeal of Maul. He was the awesome looking character that you knew nothing about.
